Should be today or tomorrow (that's Tuesday or Wednesday, this week) [l)]
Just putting finishing touches to website, which is somewhat crucial as that's how pre-orders will be placed. Been stress testing it over the weekend, so it should prove robust enough to handle at launch. Far from the finished article, we'll be populating and polishing it for the rest of the year and beyond!

Will the HU site be the only place that you will be able to order it? or will it be available at other outlets like Amazon? Not that it matters for me I'll be ordering directly from the site, but just a curious question. |
CDJay |
HU site only, initially at least.

For those of you wishing to pre-order 'Hardcore Underground 6' and / or Joey Riot & Kurt's 'This Is Powerstomp' album, you can now do so at the link below:
http://www.hardcoreunderground.co.uk/ Both albums will be shipped so as to drop through your door on or around October 28th. You will notice that as well as the individual items, you can also buy these two releases as a bundle. This saves you money on shipping, especially if you are outside the UK. It is a model we intend to continue using going forward in an effort to offer value for money to our customers, without in any way compromising the quality or ethos of our products. |

Hate to be a nag and everything, but I notice the new HU album is ?4 more than I've ever paid before, and thats for all previous albums. Also the Joey Riot and Kurt album is nearly twice the price of every other artist album you have released, heave you ever considered going into politics by the way? |
Elipton |
Oh my god your site looks like Windows 8
Anyway, I'll probably wait a while longer to buy my copy. Maybe next year or something |

It's been two years since HU5, during which the cost of everything has gone up. Frankly, the prices HMV and Amazon could afford to sell at were always faintly ridiculous as they could operate on wafer thin margins thanks to volume (bespoke packaging, ink for invoice/labels, postage etc). We also have to expect a drop in sales volume by moving to direct sale model, certainly in the short term. Add that to the desire to come up with a sustainable model which encourages artists to write and license, and a price hike is unavoidable. We're actually charging less for postage than we'll be paying, in almost all instances.
The Powerstomp album is priced at the level Joey and Kurt wanted, and is in line with various other direct sale Triple CDs. It's worth noting the *two* CDs of upfront unmixed material. The Storm & Euphony, and Brisk, Triple CDs will be priced at ?11.99. Less in a bundle.
As for Politics, we get enough of that in the hardcore scene I assure you

LOL, is the site an early april fool's joke? Why on earth would anyone want to make something look like Windows 8? First thing I did was to get rid of that menu!! |
djDMS |
I like the new site.
I also like the chance to give HU more of my money directly, just hope it works out against using other suppliers. Personally, I'm more than happy to use artist/labels own sites as they'll benefit from the (hopefully) extra income and bring us more lovely releases.
I know that realistically I'm reaching the end of my hardcore buying days so a final flurry of CD's will do me nicely :-) |

Whether the "new UI" interface is a great way to interact with a desktop computer, or not, is surely irrelevant here. For presenting a website, with flashes of information, in a format which scales from smartphone to tablet to 4k desktop it works quite well.
Compare the usability to a flash heavy website of yore. Then factor in this is "at launch"..... Seems to work pretty well, to me. It enables easy updating, and neat presentation without using too much in the way of resources (local, remote or bandwidth). Even if you hate the "style" it's still very smooth to navigate through.
It will be fleshed out to accommodate the masses of upcoming projects and ideas we're working on, for the moment we're essentially testing the registration/checkout/shipping systems before populating further.

I detest Windows 8. For however usable and responsive it is, I just hate everything about it. I think that hatred was compounded when I was forced to do a design project at uni based on their tiles thing. I took one look, saw a n over-compressed postal image and closed the tab lol.
I'll wait for it to be on Amazon or something. I'm spending too much money at the moment with no real job to fall back on |

Whole thing. If the desk top had a normal start button it'd be fine but all this off-screen scrolly stuff designed for tablets is ridiculous.

Elipton just do what I did. Download classic Shell and you never see the tabloids menu again. I think it also gives you the start button or that is another addon maybe, anyhow I have it all installed and it feels like 7 luckily. |

Off topic...
Agreed. The start menu is such a small part of the OS, to discount a whole and much improved OS based on a small part of the UI (which is easily fixed) is IMO silly.
I prefer Start8, it's excellent and well worth the couple of quid over Classic Shell. TBH Windows8 metro/modern isn't even that great on Tablets, frequently having to go to the non-finger friendly desktop makes the stock UI master of none. |
Samination |
Scalling? This website is horrible on PC/non-touchscreen enabled device. If it was made for a mouse in mind, it should've scrolled up/down, nor left/right. Anyways, this is no dig at Windows 8, but this is not a design meant to work on all devices (if it was, it would've had the buttons pilling downwords for different screens).
A tips for PC users, resize your webbrowser window and it will be better. |
CDJay |
Depends on your screen resolution tbh, on 1080p, 1440p and 2160p it tiers out fine. It was a conscious decision to largely target current and future standards. I agree on 768 screens it's less ideal but given the broad range of devices and browsers we are happy enough.

For what I use Windows for and how I use it to be as convienient and quick as possible. So actually, yes - no start button is a big deal. I also dont like the screen-edge menus. I like to be able to throw my mouse into one corner to press start, another corner to return to desktop and another to close a window. Windows 8 doesnt cater for how I and many others use clasic desktop |
djchexmixer |
The website interface was certainly a surprise. To me, it works. It was appealing and easy to navigate.
I do have Windows 8 installed on my laptop and that similar start menu is horrible for PC use. I got rid of that start up and installed the classic windows start up via StarDock software (cheap and worth it, though I believe they'll be updated Windows 8 to have this anyway).
But yea, this interface works for me for a web store. |

on 1366x768, it looks horrible, because i get scrollbars on both horizontal and vertical. Alot of Pre-Win8 laptops, they got a screen of 15" which are mostly 1360 or 1360 widescreens |

I was playing around with my screen resolution and yea you do get two annoying scroll bars at lower resolutions. Didn't scale down perfectly. |

scaling down seems to work better thou, I think at 1024 everything goes vertically instead |

Tbh i briefed the web guys to target 1080p and higher, primarily, for desktop. I will see what we can do for 768 displays. Been somewhat preoccupied juggling albums, and trying to get ready for launch. It will develop, and be refined, as we expand and populate paying attention to feedback and metrics. Already sorted those two over compressed tiles i think!

Well it will be taking all my money when the artist albums comes :)
CDJay: I might not exactly be good on web design myself, but maintaining my own website, i know it's not easy make it work for all devices or screensizes. Especially if your guys are playing around with VIEWPORTS and stuff |
