As posted on the front page of hull.info, Hullabaloo has set the final date and the end of it's reign on the north american hardcore scene.

quote:
It is a very bittersweet moment as I announce that this will be Hullabaloo’s last season and we plan to cease event throwing on our 8th year anniversary, June 18, 2005. That will be our 44th event in total, a near unprecedented run that only a very small amount of production companies in the entire world have ever reached. I think everyone knew we couldn't go on forever and I wanted to end on the high note that Hulla so much deserves.

The legacy of Hullabaloo is one of the most formidable of the entire history of underground music. Since Hulla is unlike any other promotion and means so much to so many people we thought it deserved a going-out unlike anything before, so we’re giving it a bit of time. That leaves us just four more times to come together and live the magic that has made Hulla what it is. We’ll have three regularly scheduled shows, and then of course a final send-off that we’re sure will be filled with such emotion the likes of which have never been seen.

I started Hullabaloo to promote the kind of music I loved and wanted to hear out myself. Unlike the regular path of a high profile DJ, I knew the scene would be better served this way more than anything else I could do. After all, this music was meant to be heard in one way – at a rave. Little did I know then how much that decision would resonate with generation after generation of partier and such a phenomenon would be born. While Hulla would never have existed if Happy2bHardcore didn’t come before it, the effect of Hullabaloo on the scene and the people who attended our events has been far more profound than even selling over 400,000 Happy2BHardcore CDs.

I’ve been working on a book about my journey and all the behind-the-scenes stuff that no one is privy to, and now that book will have an ending. I hope some of you who have never been take this opportunity to be part of this final chapter instead of just reading about it and for everyone who was part of the adventure along the way I’d like to thank you for your contribution to rave history.

With much love,

Chris Frolic

ps: The final season of Hullabaloo begins on December 11th, let's see her off proper!

Sad news since Hullabaloo has been THE North American hardcore party in a small scene. What does it mean for everyone this side of the pond? Time will tell...

Very sad indeed. Pretty disapointed when reading that.

The north american scene will stay in tack tho, ill do anything in my power to keep it alive.

It is sad and I'm sorry that I didn't start going sooner. But the scene will survive. There's alot of promoters out there ready to step up and take over where Hulla left off. Personally, I'd like to see the Goodfellaz do it. They already have great parties and excellent DJ's and going bigger seems like the next step for them.
My hat's off to Frolic and everyone that was a part of Hullabaloo. My time there was short, but there's 4 left and I'll be there makin' sure Hulla goes out in style.

We're the kids in the back talkin' trash in the back of the bus. Come and join us.

instead of depending on hulla now people mgiht step up and start throwing the parties make to make up for the lack of its presence, so that is a good thing. but losing such a massive party is such a downer. So glad i got to play one before it was all said and done, dream come true after 4 years =)

Hulla is as much a legend as it is a party. It's more an event than a rave. It ain't what it used to be, but I don't think there's anything that will ever be like Hulla in it's heyday.

No party can just step up and fill Hulla's shoes, it'll take a lot of promoters a lot of time to build up to it. The Fellaz are on the right track. icantstopraving.com are doing it right. There's plenty of people about to step up. Hopefully we can rebuild the scene party by party. B'oh!

I garauntee that the last four will be intense.

That's my personal pledge to every Hullabaraver, that the last four will be the four greatest nights of your lives.

umm a job? =P i've known people to take out loans from the bank as well.

it's cheaper if you find a space that already throws events. these don't have to be raves, stuff like where local bands play.

if it's a place that's for lease you're going to have to pay more due to you being more liable.

if you can provide your own sound most owners are elated and will drop the price more for renting the space.

making parties hardcore based won't bring nearly as big a crowd than if you book 1 or 2 hardcore djs to play amongst several different genres. Have to work small then go for the gusto; otherwise the promotor will loose money and nobody likes that, especially when it's yourself =P
