Underloop Something I have just noticed is that if you forget to put http in your url link using the [ url ] tag then it links to a page within hhc.com

eg:

www.underloop.co.uk

Alot of people don't think about the http bit when posting links (I know I often forget to).

Thinking about it, this is probably a bug in my forum too.... DOH!
Matthew aka DJ Underloop
DJ Superman was wondering why loads of people's links were going to that error 404 page... can go back and use the links properly now thanks man

whizz-billy-the-kid's got you in his sights
DJ Phoenix AND, had anybody thought about the dude that wrote that page. I mean, i'm sad because i sat there and read the WHOLE MESSAGE that it goes on about! lol... ...gees!

(edited! )

Lazerath Carefull nintendo. dont wanna upset people....

Isn't there a way to skip certain things when posting links. i.e not need to type http:// as it is easily forgotten like underloop said.
even if its possible use just the address (not needing the [url]).
it would make it easier. especially for newbies.

Well silver? wots ur ideas....
Think it could work??

Yeah, I knew about that...and what I also know is that Virus often slyly sorts them out, which is a good thing on his behalf.

Lazerath well a big thanks to virus is in order...

silver This is not a bug this is the standard HTML linking method, it does exactly the same thing when you link it without the http on regular linking for example <a href="dog.food.com"> does the same thing you are talking about.

Underloop Sorry, "bug" was the wrong word I guess.

What I meant was: Can you put in an

If [first 7 letters of link = "http://"] then
leave link as it is
Else
[remove everything before "www" and replace with "http://]
End If

Sorry, my head is a mush at the moment and I can't remember how to distinguish between ASP, Matlab, PHP, PAL and various other programming/scripting languages :-S

Lazerath tis annoying.... the way technology is and the advancement of programs you should be able to just type and then an ai determines wether or not it is a link...
well easy

silver It's built like that for a reason... You might have a file on your computer that looks like this

h t t p ://www.example.com/dog.food.com

thus you will want to link it to dog.food.com (the filename) and NOT h t t p ://dog.food.com

or what if you wanted to link to an FTP site or a mail to link? You need to have em :)
