phosphor The next vesion of cubase to be released soon: Cubase SX

http://www.steinberg.net/products/up/cubasesx/

Looks rather slick. I'm a cubase user (mostly for midi use).. who is seriously thinking of moving over to Emagic's Logic Audio, but this new version may make me stay with Cubase.

The one sad thing is that it doesn't look like it supports Windows 98, only Win2000 and XP - which is good for the program since you know yer performance isn't going to be bogged down or limited by backwards compatible code for Win98 - tho it means i'll finally have to break down get XP as well ;)

Some of the tasty new features in Cubase SX :

  • New user interface

  • Graphic automation of every parameter

  • Musical real-time MIDI processing

  • Unlimited Undo / Redo

  • 5.1 Surround

  • Complete set of new virtual instruments

  • Comprehensive range of new virtual effect processors

  • Edit History

It also supports video tracks now, as well as networking VST instrumets across multiple computers with the new VST System Link technology. It seems the target of SX was to bring in much of the features and feel of both Logic and Nuendo into the familar Cubase feel.

Definately upping the competition in the audio/MIDI sequencer market. Regardless I'll still probably run both Cubase and Logic since some remix work comes in from other artists who use only Logic .. gotta love softare competition ;)
