nothing... the only thing you have to give away to become a big DJ is your free time!
I have played along side Hixxy, dougal, scott brown, vinylgroover, ufo... etc... it's no big deal.

you don't really have to sell your soul for/to anything. dj'ing just takes time and to be a good one, yes it does take talent. to play along side big names, you just have to be fortunate enough to be booked at the same party. doesn't really cost an arm and a leg or anything like that. it's just an added bonus of playing your music. i've been lucky enough to play with Luna-C, Fade, and Storm, and in 11 days Cris E. Manic and Uplift. :D

one thing a Dj also need is passion, and drive (well, it helps make u a better one)
Most DJs are pretty passionate about their music. But there some that just have so much passion when they play, u can see it in their face and hear it in their mix. Makes it just that much better.

What would I give the money I'm putting away out of my pittance each month to save for some decks & vinyl etc-then I will be a DJ, & I'm determined to be a good one too! (whether I play next any big names I dont know-but I'll play alright I love music more than anything & as such want to do it properly!
PS: I've met the big name DJ's & as Silver says it's just normal blokes who can mix a cracking tune.

I actually didn't HAVE to give up anything to be a DJ. The time that I used learning was always spent with good friends, or time i gave willingly for something that I love. I actually gained more then I lost.. I get a lot of respect from people in the past who told me I could never be a DJ...The guys don't even question it anymore.. they all know this chick can hang
