Hoodzie Alright guys n gals

Ok well i keep getting asked when Ravers Addition will be released on a cd. Now the problem is with the price of doing cds, printing and distribution you can probably tell this will cost a fair bit. As you know Ravers Addition is 100% free and moving from a download album to a cd album would mean having to put a price on the albums which is something im not sure i want to do.

Sooooo

The best way to solve this is ask the Ravers Addition listeners, downloaders and fans what they want!!!

So please leave your comments on here and we can move on from there

Hoodzie
JayHH86 I would happily pay something like a tenner for this album if it was to be produced on CD.

That said, I'm perfectly happy with it as a free download album as well.
tru bass I really think it's better as a download, although as said in the previous post i'd happily pay 10 for it to be printed.
I have squat all knowledge of organising an album but i'd suggest the money (if there is any) to be put into marketing and media.. bare in mind i know **** all

BTW, I love these albums and I think you're all very talented and underappreciated.

This.
acidfluxxbass I'm doing a college course, and Ive looked at methods of packaging and selling CD's quite cheaply. However, you still need to do allot of work to advertise and sell to break even.
redwingz You would need an AP2 license to press the CDs legally, a legit CD pressing plant wont press CDs without one. To get one of these you need to contact MCPS and pay publishing prior to release. The cost of this depends on the amount of copies you are pressing. The more you press, the more it costs.

You would also need to have contracts drafted and sent to every artist/label involved in the project. As past submissions were submitted on the provision that it was available as a free download...some artists may not be happy being included on an actual CD that a profit is being made from (strange but it happens).

You would also need to negotiate a royalty split with the artists. Obviously if the CD is making money, the artists are entitled to a cut, so think carefully about the percentage you would offer.

Also, it would be highly risky to include any bootlegs on a CD that is being sold for cash. For example...lets say a remix/bootleg of 'Skepta - Rescue Me' is included and AATW happen to get wind of it....they can legally request all the royalties for that track and make you remove your CD from sale, meaning you have lots of dead stock that you could only give away.

As for distro, either just sell it from the RA site and contact IMO about selling via IMO, Hardbeatsstore and this website, or find a distro company like Icon or SRD to do it for you, although they would make more profit than you i expect.
Hoodzie Cheers for that mate.

Iv already looked into all of that and contacted mcps about it as im probably going to make a small selection of cds and contacted icon tegarding it all. I wont be doin it for the ra6 as the release date is yo soon with the amount of worrk that needs to be done.

But i will be doin a limited amount of cds for ra7 so watch this space!!!
