UAAO I've just gotten back to Tokyo after some time away.

In the past in Japan I'd found the hardcore scene to be small but vibrant and had gone to Hapy Hardcore events all over the place including seeing MC Sharkey in Sendai, DJ Ghuroovy in Utsunomiya and DJ Silver in Tokyo.

But that was some years ago.

Is there anything going on now?

How about no Scott?

I'm getting the impression that the Happy Hardcore scene is close to non-existent right now in Japan.

Anybody wanna help revive it?

Otherwise I think I may have to make do with Trance clubs and Ota-Rhythm events (lol)...

Derp!
Hard2Get Silver should be able to asnwer this for you! Since he lives in Japan.
cruelcore1 Like many years ago? Nowadays, Hardcore popularity is pretty low comparing to the oldskool times. I think itd be the same for Japan. Everybody listen to House nowadays.
silver The Japanese scene sort of split / changed... it went two routes... jcore and uk hardcore, jcore has a close tie into 2ch, anime and otaku culture in Japan, you either love it or hate it, there is no middle ground. They still crossover at events and such, it's not like two genres or anything but there are two sorts of fans and the events.

Clubs in general in Japan (any genre) are just hard to do, there is the space issue, price issue and the there is no public transportation after midnight.

CD sales for the most part are still there, if you promote it well.

Lol Jcore or mainstream HC dont matter to me. I heard both masterpieces and shite (for my taste) in both of the styles.

The internet is your best friend, 90% of the jcore in only released on CD because fans here like the artwork and the Japanese special packaging. We just sold Hardcore Addiction 5 to someone in Croatia two weeks ago actually.

I know about that. There are a few more tracks I'll be able to buy, and my next 20-30 Euro should be received by my mum this Christmas (probably nothing till then). I wish I was an adult though.

That would be me lol. And now, I can forget about Hardcore Underground 5 till Christmas, at least legally. But it was worth it

Yeah, I was just talking about that. First a few more tracks and then 1.5 more months. x)
UAAO OK so basically the jcore and ota-rhythm events I have found on Mixi are about my best bet.

Ah well, guess that's fine once in a while ^_~

And there's always the trance scene...
silver The Ota events are scary if you are not prepared :)
Samination well I wish more of them would do MP3 sales. It's kind of hard to get an album where you like more than 50% of :P

Well, I don't know if it's any help, but you can buy a bunch of M-Project tunes as MP3s from Amazon:

Samination the 2 4-track EPs where released by Bit Music, so I already got them :P

Most tracks on that Digital Archives disc where one the 2 Hardcore Illusionist albums or other albums I have
Actually, that is the same album as Hardcore Illusionist 1, but without 2 Interlude tracks and 2, probably signed tracks.

Thanks, but in the end I already had those tracks :P

There's also a japanese webstore that has/had a few albums that contained hardcore, but that store mostly sells hentai so I wont post it here

Same for me. Though i still enjoy buying whole albums, as many of the great ones are ones that eventually grow on you. Or you find them later on. I've had Hardcore Addiction 1 & 2 for few years, but only like few weeks ago realized Silver's mix on HA1 is pure gold. Played it on repeat like 5 hours while i was working.

Yeah, I wish Silver would do one mix for Hardcore Addiction. It's not that I dislike Ravine, Cotts and others, but it's his CD series and I really really enjoyed his mixes on the CDs.
