noiz labs whats everybodies fav synth ? for me .. i like anything symple really .. but not too symple. like u know in fruity the ts404 and wasp. :) lovethoses. so manny possibilites and not so may nobs.. like absynth .. thats a mutha**** .. its more like a sample thing coz i only ever use the presets.. coz its so hard to work out... also .. u know modle e... wooo .. thats good. but dosn5t run good on my compuyter.. must b to slow.. or has any one else hadt he problem of using it in fruity ? .. what about hardware.. i aint ever used one.. but donno r tyhey better\worse?

Soren Hrmm, currently my favorite is the Jupiter 6 Europa. It totally rocks. Random patch generator and full MIDI control on pure analog synth that can blast 42 VCO's on 1 key press... yummy! After that it's the Virus line, they are all amazing, small, easy to use, and sound great.

"I don't care if it rains or freezes, Long as I have my plastic Jesus Riding on the dashboard of my car.

Going 90, it ain't scary cause I've got the virgin Mary; sitting on the dashboard of my car."
StrifeII i prefer to get random samples just saws (nice long ones) and envelope and fx till it sounds great :)

If Barbie is so popular, why do you have to buy her friends?
backindauk Definentely the Oberheim Xpander, the Virus Kb/Kc (practically the same).

Although an Xpander might cost you heaps of cash, and they're unreliable (unless you're me, and you can repair, and get parts easily) its well worth it, SUPER bass sounds, super filters and super modulation possibilities.

Samplers - Kurzweil K2000 for those really grungy, industrial style string sounds, Emu E4/E6400 for multipurpose excellence.

FX/stomp boxes - Sherman Filterbank, Moogerfooger Mf101/102 (ring mod, lowpass filter)

Kaffine Gotta agree with the 303 ;) Only reason I read this post was to reply that I loooooove the 303. You just can't beat it through a distortion filter... mmm... yum.

For that reason, though, the novation bassstation is quite nice... and any 303 emulators (rebirth...)

silver I own a TB303, 2 x Juno II's, 2 x Juno 106's and a Prophet 5 (oh baby!)

rezzna the look of confusion on my face is something to behold...

i think i might stick wit jus listening to the choons ratha than making em...

*boohoo

noiz labs how much would a 303 retail 4?

silver If you can find a working TB303 (only 18,000 in the world were made) they go for about 2000 Australian dollars I think...

strychnine ^^ it's amazing how much of a legend-status they got without ever being produced in huge numbers ...

I pity anyone who isn't me.
silver The TB303 is a drum / bass machine and a crap drum machine at that, it sucked so badly Roland stoped production on it in the 80's and it was a failure... when electronic music came along it took on a whole new look on life... the TB303 is so old it does not even have MIDI... and god forgive you if you have to change the batteries in it, you will lose all your presets!

I don't mean to attempt to outdo the master, but there was a company that, for a time, sold PCBs you could install to your 303 to retrofit it with MIDI compatibility. I always fancied one of them...

silver ^^^ Don't worry I have a Midi to CV gate converter so I can play my TB303 on Midi. It is also modded to have 16 times the memory!

CandyAss Whoa, that must be like the Millennium Falcon of TB303s! 16 times the memory, it must blow the other ships...er, synths..outta' the water!

Kaffine The best part about synths is modding them, sorta like cars. I got a giant tail fin and two noz tanks on my TB303 and my prophet has turbochargers, a racing stripe and cupholders.

CandyAss silver: Well I'm sure that's useful

Kaffine: Haha, that, however, does not sound too useful
