Torpex You mean a turntable? Anything with a direct drive should be fine. :)

Captain Triceps Aye, you could probably pick one up from your local car boot sale for a few quid, if it's literally just to listen to a couple of records.
If you want to *listen* to them, as Sammy Wammy said, make sure the needles are good. I remember, as a kid, finding a bunch of records at home, and having no record player at the time I took them to my mate's next door. He had a turntable on his stereo but the needle was fucked. Our solution? A little bit of tin foil from a Kit Kat.
I do NOT recommend using a little bit of tin foil from a Kit Kat as a replacement needle.

A lot of the very top end record decks designed just for listening are belt drive. Direct drive is only of absolute importance on DJ decks. From an audiophile point of view they both have their pros and cons.
