Kwipper Hi. My name is Kwipper. I'm new here to this fourm. I consider myself to be music producer in practice and I produce mostly Gabber, however I recently started trying my hand in various Hardcore styles. My DAW of choice is FL Studio 11. I'm mainly looking for criticism, so that I may improve and get better.

Anyways here is one of my latest tracks. I hope you like it. I had a lot of fun in making it. Feel free to leave constructive criticism.

Dys7 Hey dude! Nice seeing you on here. If you don't remember me I was the guy tagging behind Spirit Wolf last November :)

That mixdown is actually surprisingly good! Nothing immediately jumps out at me, you have some nice clean bass frequencies and everything seems to have its own cut in the mix.

Anyways, one thing I noticed was that that song is very, very repetitive - it gets droning. Did you notice there isn't a point in the entire song where the bass stops? The kick stops only once. That gets very grating and uninteresting to hear.
Your songs would work a lot better with some well made breakdowns - use entirely new sounds and new melodies, it will keep your song interesting.
Kwipper Sweet. I'll work on that. The original melody you heard in the track was actually form the original song, obviously layered over using ReFX Nexus. I'll admit though, I'm not good at melodies and breakdowns. (very limited music theory knowledge on my end)

Welcome to the forum.

Melodies I find very difficult to come up with, like everything else it takes practice. I find them come easier to me than they did before. Using a MIDI keyboard helped A LOT.

I started using the Akai LPK 25 and boy did it sure help a lot. Playing around with notes on the fly is much easier than clicking in notes.

Cool song, had me tapping my foot along. Like the bass, kick, synth work. All the sounds come in nice and clear. I'll have to second Dys7 however, it is very repetitive.
Kwipper I currently have the AKAI LPK 25 keyboard too. I'll do that then. =)
Kwipper Well, I think I know why the song is very repetitive...

This is the source. XD

I've honestly been wracking my brain on changing this up so that it isn't repetitive, but I can't really come up with anything I am happy with.
i2compoze Hey Kwipper! I'm familiar with your remix of "What Does The Fox Say" Great Work!
Elliott Solid effort and funny sampling but what a strange structure for a hardcore tune! You need a breakdown, my friend.

I like the kick/bass combo but the melody and lead synth could use some work!

With some work, you could be a great hardcore producer. :)
Kwipper Sorry for not replying back in such a long time. About the song, I honestly couldn't think of coming up with anything that I was happy with. I just kinda left it the way it is. I'm not a very creative person.
choonland those are some really fun samples!
I don't think each song necessarily needs to have a break down, or follow a strict structure,
you can do whatever you want with it.

to me the choon is very enjoyable, I just downloaded it :) , but having said that, I do feel the synth hook needs to develope into something, I mean it sounds good and works for an intro, but it leaves me wanting more, basically the whole song feels like a long long intro, but it nevers releases the tension in a climax, if that makes any sense.

and don't say you are not a creative person, an uncreative person wouldn?t even bother to put this together.

I think you can be creative in other ways, if you are not good with melodies you can stick to rhythmic variations and sound and sample manipulation and still create great stuff.

Just as an example:

I REALLY like this track, and if you listen there isn't really any melody to it, just a bunch of samples, a few short synths, and tons of variations that make it very interesting (at least to my ears)
DJ SMALOUM hi KWIPPER. welcome and well done for your beautiful melody who reminds me the ambiance of adventure video game and give me smile, the beat is not bad even if i think you can change the bass for some cleaner. but please m8 remove the voices who lower the quality of the track.
