djDMS Right, here they are at last - the entries for the 2011 HH.com DJ contest.

Not much in the way of rules but here they are.
All i ask is that everyone listens to each mix before voting - if for whatever reason you decide not to listen to the full mix at least give each one the same attention.

When you have listened to the mixes, please pick your top 3 and give your feedback on as many of the mixes as you can to me VIA P.M ONLY - this way we can keep it all a secret until the final stages. First, second and third choices will receive 3,2 and 1 points respectively - the entry with the most points wins!

Please do not post any comments in this topic so it can be kept to view the mixes only. Any posts/questions can continue to go in the original topic to keep this one from steering away from the point. Hopefully i can get a Mod to lock it and i'll bump it in the other thread to keep it going.

I think it'll probably take at least a couple of weeks to get a decent amount of votes in but at present i won't set a deadline until it's clear how well the votes are coming in.

Any issues/problems etc, or if you need any further info about the mixes, please contact me via pm or in the other thread.

The top 3 will win from a choice of prizes, including gift vouchers, CD's and vinyl.

Mortis This is amazing.

I've had a good listen to a lot of the mixes now and the standard is out of this world. Well done to everyone involved but more so DMS for managing to get this thing happening.
latininxtc i haven't listened to all of them yet, but was wondering how many do we vote for?

Mortis Top 3.
The Dopeman erm oops i changed my url so in order to listen to my mix click on this link...

changed my link lol
djDMS The Dopeman/Dopey's link changed in the original post.

Silly of me to suggest not posting here, but please try not to comment on the mixes individually. Anything you wish to post about the overall standard and how great I am is absolutely fine!
Wilky I will listen to them when I've got chance, as u say no date set yet.. I've got like 60 hours of a state of trance 500 to get through yet....
DJ Mellow-Dee @djDMS... Thanx dude for initializing that competition and for managing all that stuff! Feeling honoured to be part of it
Bonkers4Life props to my fellow Canadian, Dj Seaking, and Thai Ladyboy Jay. Got my votes :D
Samination feck i missed the deadline, and I was about to do a mix :(

barely any freeform here I see. My mix would've fitted perfectedly :P

Anyways. A link to the discussion thread would be nice.. I'm too lazy :P
DJseaking Nice to see everything is coming in nicely.
Should do this sort of thing more often
D-tor I was hoping to grab all of the mixes and put em on my Zune, but it turns out MixCloud doesn't let you DL, or something.

But not all of the entrants are downloadable anyway, that makes me sad.

yours isn't even downloadable either lol what's up with that?

and yea i wish they were all downloadable as i take the bus and do a lot of my listening on there.
DJ Mellow-Dee @dj DMS..... Following a proposal to use the mixcloud platform some of us have uploaded their entries there. But as it seems this could be a disadvantage since some of the listeners would like to download the mixes for a proper voting. So my question is if it would be possible to drop in the soundcloud link instead of mixcloud or maybe show both links? This would give the same chance to all competitors....

You've done a great work so far so I hope that my request won't make you
djDMS No problem at all mate. Anyone who wishes to add a soundcloud or download link for their mix, please feel free to do so. I'll make sure all links get added to the top post, and keep the original topic updated too.
djDMS Download links added to some of the mixes in the top post :-)
Mortis I'll try to sort a d/l link for mine later.
djDMS Votes are starting to come in.

The results so far......

......are sitting nicely in my inbox!
JayHH86 Ooohh, it's so exciting! I've almost got a lady-boy style erection!

Any thoughts on a timeline yet? I'm about half way though the mixes myself. How is everyone else getting on?
meran05 Shit !!! My mix is sitting on my desktop :O lol

Theres deffooo some good Comp, theres one in im currently listening to and..................
The first couple of track im currently listening too are very much out of Sync !!!!

Strange i would of easly Noticed lol :L
cruelcore1 And here we go, its started!

I've listened to some mixes already and they're pretty good. It'll be a great competition ;)

Mine is downloadable. No one just reads the description.

djDMS More download links added
JayHH86 "Ionosphere's Ian Rushmore is next with a banging Acid/Hard House effort

http://soundcloud.com/ian-rushmore"

You may have gone just one or two tracks over the recommended thirty-five minute recommendation there Ian. lol.

cruelcore1 I added a dload link. BTW, the bad impatient me has already published the remix.

The Dopeman I can't add a download link coz my mobile internet ran owt n dnt have anyway of uploading it agen...when is the deadline 4 voting
Mortis For anyone wanting to download off mixcloud: http://clouddownload.co.uk/

Just input the url of the mix and it gives you about 20 download links to choose from. If anyone wants a server to upload their mixes too I'll be happy to store them on my site until the contest has finished, just let me know.

Well, you can always stop it at 35mins if you want. He does tend to get a bit carried away when he's on it

....his girlfriends have complained about that over the years....

Citrick Oh man I really wanna vote but there's so many to get through Loving it though this was a great idea
djDMS Keep listening people, need more votes!
JayHH86 I'm almost done man. Two more to go. Some of these mixes are seriously fcuking powerful.
DJ Mellow-Dee Pretty much work to listen to all stuff, but IMO at least all competitors should submit their voting or the whole thing didn't make much sense....
djDMS Agreed, i'm watching you all.......
Warnman Just finished listening and we got very interesting mixes here! Even the mixes I placed at the end of my personal ranking received top marks in some sub-areas like variation of genres/styles.
djDMS It's very close at the minute, all up for grabs!

Thanks for the votes and feedback so far, still need a lot more though.
djDMS 2 weeks gone and nowhere near enough votes yet. Despite the interest, the amount received has been pretty disappointing. Would be nice if i could have it all wrapped up in another week and announce the results but a bit wary of setting a deadline in case nobody bothers! Anyone intending to listen and vote, please take the time to do so - would make the competition (and the effort) worthwhile.

JayHH86 How many voters we had so far Dean?

Another question actually - who is DJ Himax? Is there a user on here called DJ Himax that I just simply haven't noticed?

I already had a small chat with him (no face-to-face contact), because he doesn't live too far away of my home town.
I would like to send you the link of his first posted mix in this forum, but thanks to our search engine, I am unable (or maybe too stupid) to find it.

Ahh yeah, thanks Warnman. I do remember his picture now, come to think of it!
djDMS Bumpage for those with short memories who need a reminder that there's a vote going on.

3 weeks in and i can count the number of votes i've received on 2 hands (or one if you're from norfolk).

Pull your fingers out lads, can't keep it up for ever (as i frequently tell the missus).
DJ Mellow-Dee Truly feeling sad about the lack of interest. Less than 10 votes means that not even all competitors have voted so far.....

It is a shame that people aren't voting. When you consider the amount of positive posts the idea got to begin with. Sadly this is a sign of the times, either people don't have the time or the inclination to get involved in things like this. Most people don't bother to listen to peoples work anymore, it doesn't matter if its tracks, mixes or full albums. It's a shame.
DJ Toadsage Sorry, i keep putting it off due to school. i'll try and get my 2 cents in by the weekend. hopefully more people vote as well.... like you guys said. kinda sad that we get this few of votes.....

I VOTED bin having some technical difficulties lol...my laptop went...
djDMS Right, opinions needed everybody.

I currently have 2 options.

1. Stop waiting in vain for more votes to magically appear, and close the voting tomorrow (sunday) night and turn my back on the whole sorry affair never to be repeated.

2. Wait another week or 2 and see if we can salvage a decent set of results to make it worthwhile.

What do you think?
The Dopeman i say 2 we shud do more of this it's fun im tryinta do a few old n nu skool gabba mixes aswell as uk hardcore usin fl studio so it gives me suhin to do i thinku shud challeng people to do mix using tracks chosen at random that cud be intresting imo

Maybe you'll get even more disappointed after another 2 weeks of waiting.... IMO this shouln'd have been the last competition but I understand that you wont initialize anything like that again.

@ all those who were not willing to spend a bit of their time: Shame on you

This is exactly what I've been thinking about various aspects of the internet hardcore scene for a while now. Do I bother making more mixes and tracks only for them to get ignored by most people. Do I carry on trying to build up a new hardcore social network like I have been for the last month. Sadly things done by loads of people are going largely ignored now. Not just things I'm doing but things that others are, be it established or non established. The community spirit is dying off at the moment.

To answer the question I say option 1. Screw the people who can't be arsed and get it over and done with.
Ionosphere I thought that people on this site listened to Hardcore, so how hard can it be....?

Listen to the mixes. PM your top 3 to DMS. Easy....

....trouble is that'd require slightly more than the attention-span of a goldfish.... and slightly more effort than doing f*ck all.

So yeh, I'm with Mortis. F*ck 'em.

*edit*

and if it's true what MellowDee said that not even all of the entrants have voted, well.......... ffs!

acidfluxxbass am i meant to listen though like 50 hours of mixes?
D-tor Not entirely, in fact it said to spend at least equal time on each mix. And 5 minutes searching through each one or listening to them on an iPod would at least give you an idea of what mix you like best.

Exactly ! Took me a bit more than one hour to check all mixes so it's a kind of effort we could expect from everyone, right? But as Ionosphere said, f*ck them all (as long as they look pretty *lol*)

djDMS

12 mixes, less than 10 hours of music. I never expected hundreds of voters but after what was a decent amount of initial interest i was hoping for more than 7! I understand that people have busy lives but even listening to one mix every other day would have been enough.
Mortis

You'd think that wouldn't you. It never used to be like this on here, if this competition was done in 05/06 then it would have have tons of attention. It's a sign of the times that people don't seem to care about the music anymore.
D-tor Sign of the times sucks. D;
djDMS Right, the competition will be closing tonight so anybody intending to vote, please do so before the end of today (sunday). Wherever in the world you are, just go by your own time zone if it gives you more time. If not, UK time will suffice. I'll compile the massive number of votes and announce the winners tomorrow.
djDMS VOTING CLOSED. Will add the scores up and announce the result later.

Ok. Who are you and what have you done with Jay?
JayHH86 I haven't had a beer in three days. Maybe I've mellowed? I'm more sincere and boring when I'm sober. That said, I'm hitting the sauce in something like T-minus 10 minutes. Yay.
