I cant let anyone anymore post track lists for unlicenced CD's. Labels and artists have all asked me to delete the posts. Otherwise the labels and artists will start asking for money from the person that made the CD, even if you are giving it away for free.

hmm I'm curious.. what is the correct way to do this? As I intend to promote my self in exacly the same was as was attempted here . . .

give out the cd's,minus the tracklist. just say you're giving away a freeform/breakbeat/vocal cd and don't mention any of the tracks on the mix

Giveaway a CD without a tracklist, dont make more than about 30.
They are not being snooby, it is just big events like Slammin Vinyl were selling many many tape packs and the artists and labels were not getting any money.

I know what you mean, but what is wrong with me making a few promo CD's to give away as demos?
|
Midway_raver |
is this the beggining of the end of tape packs from events then?
Like a bolt of lightning it's so frightning..Get ur brain now we're igniting |

^^ I sincerely doubt that this is gonna spell the end for unlicensed promo CD's, let alone tape packs.

heh.. now that is *wierd to me* .. I'm not going to, but to me it seems ure giving less credit to the makers of the music by not telling potential fans what it is on the disk? :S
But ok, of course, rules are rules - no confusion there :)

Rules, shmules. Agh!!

You ever feel this far removed from pop music?

Good point.

But if you make the CD and distribute it, aren't you breaking the rules already? I don't know see how including a tracklist is gonna harm the artists' wallets any further.
