Claxton Pre-ordered :D WOOOOO!!
GrahamC Aw man, I just splurged a wad on HU CDs, you need to stop making these things so damn tempting!
AceofSpades_Lorenzo 2 copies preordered :D (one is a Xmas present for a friend)
Vladel Pre ordered HHU but there's no previews for dj tools 3
CDJay We weren't planning on putting them up this soon, but FB was so depressing and Royal Mail seem to expect payment so our hand was forced.

There will be clips, podcasts, essential general previewing to come before release date.

CDJay
skankineddie666 Just seeing "Darwin & 3star - Leap" got me sold on DJ TOOLS. That track is mind blowing.
dj switchback Looks such an incredible album. So many tracks that I've wanted for a while. (Here I Am, Stay With Me, Higher Love, Groove Control remixes)

And there's plenty of great new music smattered across the other CD's. Hooray for all.
Samination 08. Chwhynny - Coldwater Canyon

Not heard the track (if it has been played out), but I presume it's a remix of Scooter's track?
CDJay It's a cover / painstaking recreation of it at 175bpm. The original track was lost, hence the incredibly dubious quality of it on the "Wicked!" album. Working out all the piano line variants accurately took her nearly a month lol.

Clip is now up :)

Samination It has a more happy hardcore sound to it than the original, But wasnt the original also 170ish? :P
Mickey Init How many albums would we have had to purchase this year had it not been for HU?

I honestly dread to think of what it would be like if we didn't have these guys around. Considering I only listen to hardcore I, for one, would be bored out my mind.

The original is 155 BPM, and the slow bit in the original is 128 BPM. Mine is 175 BPM with a slow bit of 150 BPM.

Yet, stunningly, there are up and going producers still happy to pretend we don't exist. Even if they *hate* us, I'd expect them to gurgle nicely at us in an attempt to keep their options open.

It's a very weird scene these days. Thank god this album harkens back to a much less partisan and petty time!

CDJay
djDMS That was as embarrassing for me to see as annoying as I imagine it can be for you Jon. The general ignorance of all things HU by (too) many people still bugs me.

Yes, I see myself as a fan and supporter of HU, but only because I appreciate quality, commitment and honesty. Not to be 'cool'.

Even up and coming artists are pledging allegiance to certain labels/events. More fool them!
CDJay It's always annoyed me, but at this point it's an active omission. Particularly if done repeatedly.

I nearly never bite, but I allowed myself that one.

CDJay
AceofSpades_Lorenzo I about flipped out when I seen what you guys are talking about :p I could've had a spaz attack but I held back :D

It was a status on fb that someone ignored HU even existed :p I was replying to Jon/Dean
Elipton Why's everyone talking in riddles?

Just link the damn status and make my visit here worthwhile! 😂
CDJay It's been edited now anyway. It's not an isolated incident, however.

Lots of up and coming producers, falling under the banner of other major labels and cliques, spend an awful lot of time saying how hardcore is the best it's ever been and it's all because of *insert all labels except HU* or *insert all artists who aren't signed to HU*.

It *always* pisses me off, but it's much worse when it's someone who featured on an album we released and bundle to increase exposure and sales for them and theirs.

I'm taking notes, that's for sure

They're ungrateful bastards & don't realize how many up & comers are busting their ass to be on an HU album someday. Just being honest :p
djDMS Have to hold off buying my copy a while longer, apparently I have to celebrate my wedding anniversary first...
CDJay Out of spite, I shall refuse to repress it.

CDJay
djDMS Go for it, plenty of other labels releasing CD's anyway.

Oh, wait a minute.....

I'm curious. Was it that DJ Rescue? (I'm not on FB so wouldn't have seen the status.)

Back on topic - I'm soooo looking forward to HHU. Off to Germany next weekend for a boozy one - should get the whole thing done on the journey there! And on the way back!
Mickey Init As a side note, I'd be well up for a Darwin/F&D remix of this...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTDsEIH_y-I

The original would never be topped, though.

I have a feeling it's someone that almost no one here will recognize. If it were the big-name people in any way, we would have noticed some sort of trend about it on social media.

that's no fun :( . in all seriousness though i suppose that's better because the negative impact is smaller . still; i think such jackassery should be called out or at least acknowledged ; just un-needed douchery
Vladel Vinylgroover

CDJay Lorry broke down in Belgium; quite why today (two days after expected delivery date) is the first we've heard about it I don't know.

They're saying 5-6 p.m today, which is useless for posting out, so will go out tomorrow with a freebie in tow. The order is marked as pre-order until we change it to Paid once in the royal mail system.

Confirmed
CDJay I'm sure there's a middle ground between the delight of receiving "a copy" and "unloading thousands of CDs on your driveway at 11 p.m"

I demand someone finds it.

CDJay
arpz Funny actually, I was just thinking about this... you never get the build up of excitement in the same way as the punters, I was wondering what the lack of that feeling is like but there must be a different type of satisfaction in opening boxes and seeing the soon to be sold article too.

Sure it'll have been worth the wait. Wouldn't it be easier to just not set any kind of release date until it's in your hands? Or do you think that would negatively impact on preorders and such?

djDMS I've always thought that. Must be helpful to be able to measure potential demand through pre-orders (as well as getting help with manufacturing costs).

What you need is an 18month old who really likes the music so when i splash out i'm doing it for my kid too.
Vladel royal mail emailed to say its coming today!!

coupled with a preorder for the charity album and a MAGIC CHORD album that's f***** epic i'm glad those boys have come back and well done HU for getting them on board.

Also wanna add the fracus & darwin track magic chords sounds awesome.
djDMS No email for me yet. Saying that, I'm 125 miles from home so can't really nip home for them if they do come.
arpz None for me either ;(

Think it'll end up being Monday for me
CDJay It'll be Monday for a lot of UK peeps, unfortunately, didn't get out anything like as many as we wanted to on Thursday.Friday + Tracked 48 = Monday.

However we *are* up to date on Friday, despite me utterly wrecking my back the previous day, so full credit to Chwhynny who crawled around all day assembling the random montage of orders to ship out.

International orders will be caught up over the weekend.

Genuinely sorry we couldn't get more out in a timely fashion, as I mentioned before we got stock way beyond what we expected.

It's worth the wait, and there's a freebie in there too. Love y'all!

CDJay
Vladel well soon as the royal mail said they will deliver it today, if they fail i'm gonna torch burlsem delivery centre!!!

btw any chance the freebie might contain toytown? someone mentioned during the discussion about the rights that maybe it could be given away although i may be totally off-base with that. If it were the case it would be a wonderfully ironic occurrence. I wouldn't be upset either way it's all good.
CDJay Nope, sorry

In fact it features something I know you really don't like, so forgive that bit yea?

CDJay
GrahamC Got my parcel of awesomeness

Thanks for the extra goody :)
Vladel Ok here we go! First off something that made me a little apprehensive if with the majority of the music and the premise being happy hardcore, it's a worry that some favorite tunes could be ruined with bland remixes but over the years many of the new updates can be really good and i find it just usually comes to about 50/50 hit and miss so this one is worthy of doing track by track so here goes.

Darwin & Donna - Groove control- Never a fan of the original to be honest. This one starts with a big kick and then changes to modern beat and bass which is disappointing. The track itself isn't bad, better than the original to be honest. 5/10
Come follow me (Storm & bananaman remix)- Had massive expectations for this one as the originals is one of my favorite tracks of all time and it was a banger! The remix is a bit more patter than banger to be honest. The percussion has been killed and the lead isn't much to write home about. Not the worst track ever made in its own right but when weighed against the original, it's tragic. 2/10
J.D.S. - Higher love (Fracus & Darwin electrified remix)- Crikey we are going back a while for the original for this one. Like groove control wasn't a massive fan of the original but Fracus & Darwin have done a good job of putting some energy into this one which is a big improvement. 6/10
Got to go (Chris fear & jenny -j remix)- Really fond memories of the original from the early bonkers days (also featured on many a dougal helter skelter tape) It's a hard one to gauge this one because i really like half of the track. I don't like the percussion at all. 5/10
Thoughts & Smiles - No original to speak of and the first time i heard this one was HU6 when the track had enough time to be one of the best on the album but not enough to have a good listen. It's good to have the full track but i think on HU6 it felt more energetic, either way it's a good tune. 7/10
Here i am (Fracus & Darwin remix)- Ok the original has been remixed a ridiculous number of times but more often than not comes out quality. I gotta say when it starts with the big kick i think awesome and then it changes to yawn more conventional beat and bass. It's one of those moments i'd like to beat the pair of them around the head with a bat it's so frustrating!!!!! Even more so is as the track progresses it's actually a really great track. Damn you Fracus & Darwin for teasing me with big kicks, taking them away but then making a really good tune the f*****s. 8/10
In the mix (darwin remix)- Ok really liked how stompy the original was and this one isn't. I know Darwin can use big kicks (i've heard it!) shame he hasn't here. Overall it's a bit bland to be honest but not bad. 6/10
Coldwater canyon- Some said there was an original but i don't know it well to be honest but the melody does sound familiar. This version sounds like early freeform maybe 97-99 i dunno but it's an interesting track 6/10
Cloudy Daze (storm & bananaman remix)- original is probably in my top 10 pre 2000 tracks and there's a couple of remixes i'm aware of. The one on the 2010 bang album is good, this one isn't. All the energy has been taken out of it and the percussion/bass is awful. 3/10
Magical rainbow- Definitely fits the happy moniker nice solo effort from darwin 7/10
Together forever (Bananaman & Gisbo remix)- I was expecting another tease when hard kick came in and expected it to disappear but i'm glad to say it stayed in (someone read the name of the album then hehe) The remix reminds me of one of the early ones maybe 98 i'm not sure without looking through itunes. I like it though 7/10.
Let go - 6/10
You Row - someone else read the label! Really like this one it has got everything from Sharkey, old skool percussion, lets of energy and pure happiness. 8/10
Stay with me (Darwin remix) - YAY big kicks and cheesey vocals!!! 8/10
All together - More of the above and that's what we like!! 7/10

Disk 2:-
Space Odyssey 2014 - Really good update that features the full track on Hardcore innovators 2. 7/10
Please be mine (Darwin remix) - I remember the original to this and i like the remix too. 7/10
Living the dream (Bananaman & Gisbo remix) - i remember the original being annoying for the vocal being repetitive. The remix isn't bad tho 6/10
A dream surprise (Bananaman & Gisbo remix) - The remix to this that featured on HU 2013 was one of the highlights of that album. This one isn't as good but it's listenable. 5/10
Reach out (Brisk 2013 remix) - Off brisks album simply brilliant 7/10
Deep sensation - The less said, the better 2/10
On my own (Darwin remix) - i've got this somewhere good track tho 7/10
Space invader (Scott brown remix) - ok featured on mind over matter but this seems to be a different yet similar remix. 7/10
Life we share (Bananaman & gisbo remix) - don't like this one. 4/10
Harmony (Darwin remix) - Never liked the original. Prefer this one a lot. it feels like a much more complete track. 7/10
Kickin hard (Scott brown remix) - Really liked the original and like the remix. 7/10
Get busier (Shimamura remix) - Too much breakbeat ruins this one for me. I would have been much better with just kicks. Potential wasted. 5/10
Have it all (Storm remix) - loved the original and as the mixed version starts with the vocal i'm worried how storm is going to ruin this one. It's not bad but the percussion is just wrong for this one he's done it again sorry. Still gets a good score because of the good vocal and running a bit like the original. 6/10
Keep on trying (Darwin remix) - Dowster & Vagabond did their own version of this last year which is much better than this. Darwins attempt isn't bad and is closer to a happy hardcore song though so it's not all bad. 6/10

Disk 3:-
Hardcore is my life - Ok not sure where i heard this before but the vocals are over the top and drown out the melody most of the time. 3/10
Popcorn (nu foundation remix) - heard this before and i'm not much of a fan. 4/10
Wicked Wednesday - not sure how this is happy hardcore and nothing to write home about. 4/10
Dancing in the rain (Darwin remix) - think this was on mind over matter. Great remix 7/10
Techno around the world (Fracus & Skratchy remix) - nice remix that i think is a fair bit better than the original. 6/10
Love, life & Happiness (Darwin remix) - didn't like the original or remix to be honest. It's good energy but doesn't do a lot for me. 5/10
Apollo 13 (Flakee remix) - Really liked the original and listening to this remix. It sounds very little like the original and more like middle of the road freeform to be honest. Poor attempt not worthy of the name 4/10
Under blue skies - Not Darwins best work and not his worst either. it may take some more listens on this one. 5/10
Wizzy (Darwin remix) - As this track comes out of the mix with the prior one it stands out. Well the original is brilliant and this remix is pretty good. Towards the end of an album you need a good track to really stand out. 7/10
Super sharp beatz (Chwhynny remix) - I think scott did a few tracks like this in the late 90's and i found they would blend into one another but i think Chwhynny has done a good job here. 6/10
Just Fly - Yay big kicks but not much else to be honest. 5/10

Well bloody hell it took around 2 hours do all that lot (wife not happy) which i know pales in comparison to actually putting the project together. Overall it's a good album and i'm gonna need more listens before i can rank it compared to its others as i like to review things on first listen. It's the only way it's fair in my eyes and i gotta say there is some serious quality and some fails. I don't think i can forgive Storm and Bananaman for the come follow me remix. Fracus & Darwin put some good quality in there and most of the stuff Bananaman did with gisbo is very good. The thing i'm most disappointed with is the sheer number of remixes that just go with plain normal beat and bass and not with big kicks because that's what happy hardcore should be. That's just my opinion but other folk will have theirs.

I think i'll go through it all again later when the kids are asleep. Good Job HU!

The remix is a bit more patter than banger to be honest. The percussion has been killed and the lead isn't much to write home about. Not the worst track ever made in its own right but when weighed against the original, it's tragic. 2/10
Life we share (Bananaman & gisbo remix) - don't like this one. 4/10

I actually agree with you that Come Follow Me remix was a huge let down. When you listen to the original Stompy & Flyin mix, there is so much energy in that track and I feel the vocals were much better too. This remix just misses so much. It doesn't do it for me what so ever, and that is a huge disappointment.

With Together Forever, I personally don't think it is as good as the Evolve remix on Bonkers 3 (track 1 of Hixxy's mix from 97). The vocals seem too overpowering for me, which is odd because they are the ones used in the Evolve remix. I would give it a 5/10 personally.

I love the original Life We Share. It is an awesome track but this is just not good at all. I really am sad about this remix and hope that one day a much better remix will see the light of day. Same with the other two.

Other than that I really enjoy the album. So many amazing memories from the happy hardcore sound of the 90s.
warped_candykid Do all orders come with the freebie??? I just placed my order Friday.
CDJay When it comes to international orders, some will by default although weight brackets will play a role.

If you definitely want one, just message me your order number and I'll flag it. If it knocks the order up by ?2.40 (per 250g increment) I might hit you up for a donation

Lol, I'm good. I know my shipping cost was 8.50 (british). So, if my copy is one of the default ones, cool, if not, it's still cool!

CDJay
Quicksilver Sorry if it's in the thread, but why isn't there a full version of Please Be Mine there?? :(
CDJay We couldn't fit everything on the unmixed disc, some will pop up on DJ Tools etc.

CDJay
djDMS Can see there being a lot of demand for some of the mixed tracks.

Got the email, hopefully be a nice package waiting for me when I get home :-)
CDJay Also, some will be turning up on artist albums. The sleuth like amongst you may be able to extrapolate future albums based on that...

CDJay
dj switchback Definitely want those Darwin remixes of Please Be Mine and Harmony. Hopefully both will feature on a future DJ Tools album.

I'll continue to harass Skinny re: Just Fly. ;)

J.D.S. - Higher love (Fracus & Darwin electrified remix)- Crikey we are going back a while for the original for this one. Like groove control wasn't a massive fan of the original but Fracus & Darwin have done a good job of putting some energy into this one which is a big improvement. 6/10

The Groove Control remix sounds great from the clip.

Actually the Higher Love remix isn't bad - probably is an improvement on the original but the best version of this track is Slipmatt's remix! One of my fav hardcore tracks.
arpz Really like Vibes & Fracus - Wicked Wednesday!

Piano on that is beast :D
Craigavon raver Finally received this yesterday! been waiting so long on this, I actually have it on as I speak and sounding great so far, from the clips I heard on soundcloud I thought they all sounded brill, so think this is gonna be a banging album!

And great to see the legend dj vibes mixing on there to, can't wait to hear his mix, actually thought it was b2b chwhynny when I first seen the djs, not that it matters
djDMS Haven't listened to it all yet because the greatness of DJ Tools 3 has totally knocked me sideways!
Mickey Init Was it the Fracus & Darwin remix of 'Please Be Mine' that featured on one of the HU podcast episodes a few months back?

I'm sure I heard an "unfinished" version that used the original riff in places on one of the episodes.
CDJay No idea, so I would classify as unlikely.

I flicked through the HU podcasts very quickly but couldn't find what I was describing. I've definitely heard it somewhere so if it's not on the HU Podcast it'll be on the Jump 4 Joy one. If it's not a F&D remix it'll be a variation of the Darwin remix before it was finished and released on the album. I'll keep searching.

Bad Corey Really hoping my copy comes soon. :) Got a gig two weekends out I'd love some of these tracks for. Also hope my international order includes the freeb

It was on the "One For The Road" Darwin mix. I edited out the remix and played it to death. Do you mean it sounds different on the album? :(

01. Darwin & Donna - Groove Control

Ya, down in TN. I didn't pre-order my copy (I had to wait until my next paycheck came in), so I knew mine wouldn't be sent out with the first batch. But my order went a couple of days listed as a "pre-order", now it's been, "Paid" for a couple of days, so the next thing should say "shipped!"
AceofSpades_Lorenzo I'm 90% sure "paid" means it's been shipped.

latininxtc Alright my long-awaited review! I received this album last Wednesday but was enjoying it too much that I've been putting this off a bit lol. Not going to rate these by a 1-10 ratio because I find that stupid and also I just never believed in rating something like that. I either like a track, love it, or just plain hate it.

CD1:
There isn't one track here that I dislike at all! I even love those that have already been heavily criticized. I do have a few things to say about some of them, so if I leave any tracks out it's not because I love them any less than the others, it's just that I have something to say about certain tracks an not others.

I absolutely love Groove Control, but I find it to be the most out of place track on this CD, possibly the whole album. It's a well-produced track and although it does have a positive vibe, it doesn't have that essence that reminds me of the happy hardcore days.

I love the Come Follow Me remix. It's simple but it gives that great happy hardcore vibe, a truly well-made remix in my opinion. What does me in about it is the vocals. Perhaps back then these vocals were ok but by today's standards they sound so lifeless and miserable. I think a total remake should have been in order and leave the original vocals in the past.

Nothing will ever beat the original Higher Love and Here I Am, but damn if those aren'tincredible remixes! It's shocking that the tracks haven't been remixed/remade to death they're so good!

I'm on the fence on whether I think In The Mix should be alongside Groove Control as a bit out of place on the CD, but it does have a more noticeable happy hardcore vibe. Still a great remix.

When first started hearing Coldwater Canyon I was a bit worried for a second that this may not be something I would have liked, then the piano riff kicked in and it instantly grew on me. Hearing it over and over again this is definitely one of my most favorite tracks on this album! I love the variety of it, and it was a risky track with elements you wouldn't think would go well together but Chwhynny did an absolute brilliant job! Well done!

Cloudy Daze is another heavily criticized track that I actually like. Sure it's not as advanced a production as current tracks out there, but neither were the tracks back then. Sometimes you don't need a lot going on in a song in order for it to sound good. Love the simplicity, love that genuine happy vibe it reeks of (in a good way) from the 90s.

I swear You Row has got to be the most Dutch influenced track on here haha. And why not since it's produced by a Dutch herself, Chwhynny! I can't quite point out which but You Row definitely starts off the same as a well-known dutch happy hardcore track from the 90s. Oh but I can definitely point out that the track ends JUST like Children Of The Night by Nakatomi.

Absolutely LOVE the Dutch influence in All Together. What a great way to end the CD and to lead into the mixes!

CD2:
I absolutely LOVE this mix! Storm and Bananaman did a great job capturing that happy old skool essence in an updated form throughout this whole mix. For me there was never a dull moment at all, and not one track I disliked! I think Storm has found another DJ he will do great in back to back sets for albums. Storm's chemistry with Bananaman is on par with his and Kutski's, and is better in my opinion than his with Scott Brown's. If there is a Vol. 2 hope they come back together to do another mix together!

I also love that there are remixes from tracks that have not seen a remix in a long time! Definitely refreshing not to hear one overly remixed track on this mix. A few things to say about some of these tracks, but am not saying anything on tracks I already commented on the first:

At first I didn't enjoy the Space Odyssey powerstomp remix and didn't think it was going to fit in, but it does fit in nicely with the whole mix.

WHY is On My Own on here??? After appearing twice on one album (HU4 on CDs 1 & 3) I would think that HU would have banished this track from ever appearing on an HU album again lol. Don't get me wrong I do love the track and I found no issue with it appearing twice, but so many people did so I would have thought that was enough to avoid the track for future projects.

While I love Space Invader (both the remix and the original), I don't think that the Scott Brown remix is all that different from the original. You could have included the original in place of it and would not have added nor taken anything away from the mix. Now Harmony, that is a great remix which has noticeable differences from the original! Great remix as well.

I actually like Life We Share, but this is my first experience of the track and never heard the original can't say the remix did any harm to it.

Love the Keep On Trying remix! It makes the track way more tolerable. The original version was fine, but after a few plays it just became such a bore of a track.

CD3 Vibes mix:

I was surprised to see that this wasn't a back to back with Chwynny mix. That would have been great to hear, but both mixes are great individually. As far as Vibes mix goes, I do love how it began, and I do love his mix overall but I am a bit disappointed that it lacks the happy hardcore/old skool vibe that we all know and appreciate from a Vibes mix. I would have expected a slightly cheesier sounding mix or something similar to the Storm and Bananaman mix. I guess it would be hard to do a mindblowing mix in half a CD. It's good to hear his mixing is top-notch, as it has been criticized by a few people on these forums in the past. I certainly would not mind hearing him on any future HU albums, even the volume series :)

As mentioned I do love how it begins, and Hardcore (Is My Life) is a great track. What I don't like about it are the flight attendant voice-overs it has, and the transition between this track and Popcorn to me is a bit off. Perhaps it's just me. But it's really the only transition issue in his whole mix.

Love the Popcorn remix, and more than likely that will be on the upcoming Nu Foundation artist album!

A bit odd that he included a remix of Love, Life & Happiness that was done 6 years ago. It's a great track, but I think there could have been a more recent track to end his mix with. The track has definitely aged very well, as most people will probably even notice it's 6 years old.

Although I do like all the tracks on here, just not much to say about ones not already mentioned.

Chwhynny's Mix:

Ok, why do we not ever see or hear more of Chwhynny's djing? I absolutely love her segment, and love that she mixes in a slightly old-fashioned way where the tracks overlap and fade in and out to make for a much smoother transition. That's rarely ever done anymore. The transitions between You Row and Magical Rainbow and Got To Go and Coldwater Canyon I think could have gone a bit smoother, but other than that great mixing! I do hope we see and hear more of her out there, we are in dire need of some more female DJs, hell more HU DJs overall to invade the scene, especially ones that know how to organize their tracks to make for an amazing mix! She could teach a thing or two to the HU2013 djs about how to make a proper tracklist!

Love all the tracks, but a couple things to say about 2 in particular:

Love the Apollo 13 remix, but felt it had too much of an updated sound and didn't fit in well with the happy hardcore theme of the album.

I can't quite see any huge differences between the Super Sharp Beatz remix and the original one. There are noticeable differences, but just not any huge ones. I do love that this track got an update. It rarely ever gets any attention, and it's one of my all-time favorites from Scott Brown.

Overall, I absolutely love this album and I do hope there is another one! I even labeled the album with "Vol. 1" just in case there is. If there is a next one, I do hope that every track carries that happy hardcore/old skool vibe and not just have remixes of tracks from that era placed in there and say that counts. It doesn't even have to be a remix to capture that essence from that era, it can be a completely new production that does it as well. Chwhynny's productions do a great job of that, so I'm sure all producers are fully capable of doing the same.
trippnface are the Vibes & Chwhynny mixes faster than Storm & Bananaman's ?

Chwhynny's productions do a great job of that, so I'm sure all producers are fully capable of doing the same.

i think if there is a volume 2 it should be re-do of the old school breaky hardcore sound :p.
Triquatra Fiiinally got my greasy mits on this! :D
Myself and the wife listened to it the whole way home after a romantic getaway in Bath

I'll start by giving a little background - I've not heard any of these before, I haven't really listened to any clips online and have a terrible memory so if I have I'd forgotten. Popped in each CD without really knowing what to expect fully. All I can really say is when I see new remixes of classics, especially loved classics, I'm very wary and probably going to be quite hard to please ;)
"oh christ, he's just going to listen to this album and only like things if it's close to the old skool sound" ...genuinely, I'm (trying) to listen to it and enjoy it for what it is, away from the originals. I'm not watching the movie and saying "this is crap, it's nothing like the book".

CD1 - 'Unmixed'
Groove Control...for the first 1.05 seconds I was a little bit "hmmmmm" and then the ravey stabs kicked in and I was all like "YEAAAAH!"....and then the ravey stabs + acid kicked in and I was all like "HELL YEAH!" then the piano dropped in, beautiful. Donna Grassie is an absolute legend - but I can't help wondering if these are re-sung vocals by her as they don't "sound" like the original vocals....the auto-tune on them is a little disappointing, she's a fantastic singer, heard her live, no need for that x-factor polishing nonsense taking the soul away! :P

Come and follow me is stupidly fun and Higher love is spot on, lovely bassline and brings the track up-to-date perfectly, wonderful! :D

Got to go I wasn't really my cup of tea - the original vocals are out there to download still so I don't see why it needed to be re-sung! I think it's case of knowing the original too well and having trouble hearing this song without the original still playing in my head. That's nothing against the new singer at all...it's just you're expecting one voice (or note) and getting another. :P On-relistening to it, I really like the song, just what I already said + that odd plunky 'Martin Garrix - Animals' styled pluck thing for the melody ruined it for me a bit.

Thoughts and Smiles is a great, friendly track with a classic happy stabby breakdown

Here I am is certainly the best nu-skool remix I've heard of it, beats the 2005 remix that's for sure.

In the mix, bloody fantastic!

Coldwater canyon is probably my favourite track on here. Out of all the tracks I think it's the most faithful to the happy sound. Would love to see an album of this style; where instead of going for happy hardcore using new production - making happy hardcore as close to what it used to be as possible without caring about all the tidy-sterile cleanness of modern production. Would it 'sell'? Pfft, I dunno - but I'd buy it :P

Cloudy Daze is a proper head bopper...is that a thing!? very bouncy! I especially like the bit where it says "up"...and stops for just a second then starts again. It's the little things

Magical rainbow is probably the epitome of "new" happy hardcore. The section toward the end actually feels quite christmassy, which was nice on the drive home.

Together forever is an update but like Got To Go didn't really drag me in.

I love the ravey offbeat stabs in Let Go 'party non stop'!!!

and how great is it hearing Sharkey in a track again for 'You Row'!! Hard Core! Again the production in this song is bloody brilliant. MOAR!

Ahahahahaaha, it's at this point that there is a fight for "favourite track on the album"
bloody hell. Stay with me. This song quite honestly...I think it beat the original.

All together now is a great song to end the album on, I think it managed to touch on most of the styles of happy hardcore.

CD2 'mixed by Storm and Bananaman'
is really enjoyable and what a brilliant update to Space Invader! Though I could listen to the melody that kicks in after the lyrics for an entire song, but it disappointingly only lasts 20 seconds, sounds beautiful. Keep on Trying is another update that I hadn't heard that sounds superb.

CD3 'mixed by Vibes, mixed by Chwhynny'
My favourite CD out of the three! basically all the tracks are great - however I will say that one of the tracks, I won't say which one, has the worst lyrics I have ever heard in my entire life. Ever. (though the actual song's pretty good!)

Brilliant Album, if you're someone who is into the nu-skool sound but want's to keep it nu-skool but add a spice of happy hardcore to their sets this is easily the best selection out there.

For me personally, whilst I've been more into the production thing than the DJing thing for the past few years the mixes are ideal! and If I ever decide to join the rest of you futuristic folk with your digitalistic-vinyl and your usb-dongledoodars then CD1 will come in very very handy!

lol far from it. I despise them.

I was thinking that's the track that you were talking about, but I wasn't too sure.

I don't mind the vocals/lyrics on that track, it certainly reminds me of the cheesy shit that came out in the 90s that was just as bad if not worse than that. I did however hate the stupid flight attendant samples in that track. Completely pointless.

at least they're not as bad as the worst that S3RL has done.
Triquatra Debatable, but then for my knowledge of that style I suppose I can't really talk - Pretty Rave Girl is the only S3rl song that springs to mind...and that's just as bad!
Torpex Excellent album. It's super hard to single out winning tracks as there's just too many (and I've praised many of them before), but the Flakee remix of Apollo 13 was the biggest surprise - haven't heard it before and I think it's perfect in its simplicity. :)

Pretty Rave Girl is a solid track if you get past the lyrics.

Triquatra and if you happen to like that style

Yeah. I wouldn't listen to an instrumental version of that track.
_Jay_

No idea if this is the track Rowan is referencing, but I absolutely love it. Had to stick it on YouTube.

CDJay As taken from the ever entertaining RFU quotes page:

"Arkitech: you bastard. ive been singing magical rainbow to myself constantly for the last two days"

CDJay
djDMS It does tend to have that effect, been in my head since Jay mentioned it.

what... a... tune! i can't stop listening to it! :V

as for the album itself: it's great! i'm definitely glad I decided to pick this one up! if the purpose of the album was to appeal to both the established Happy Hardcore crowd (that would be familiar with the era the album pays homage to), and newer arrivals in Hardcore as well, it definitely succeeded! + starting the mixes with a newer version of the first track on the very original HU album (Space Oddyssey by DJ Kurt) was a nice touch :V
warped_candykid I want remakes/remixes of Dutch tunes on the HHU2!!!!

Vladel I'd rather not have any mixed disks
Sulphurik Is Darwin's Please Be Mine remix available as single track download?

So it's 20 years since the original version from JHAL! Still big fan of the track now as I was back then. The intro track to Hardcore Heaven Vol 2 album which was the first hardcore album I bought! ;) The background noise that starts at 23secs is a bit of a continuous sound but sounds better when the bassline comes in.

Post above; Ruby - Hardcore Train, where did you find that? Lol. Fun track not the worst I've heard.

This guy has a huge collection of Dutch/German Happy Hardcore from like 1994-1997.
Captain Triceps My God, I wouldn't want a remix of hardcore train on HHU2!
CDJay The problem is that most euro catalogues were bought out by huge U.S based multinationals. We would lose ?100s per license even if they replied.

Wha? I would've thought Paul Estak would own it all. Didnt he make like 99% of the dutch hardcore? :P
Vladel CDjay, any chance we can have that Al storm heart of gold remix on HHU 2?
CDJay Paul Elstak largely released on Rotterdam Records, which was sold to Cloud 9 Music as part of Mid-Town Records in 2011.

It's very, very, hard to license any of the dutch/euro stuff unfortunately.

As for HofG thing, it's entirely up to Hixxy. I'll do what I can, but heh.

CDJay
Vladel Just curious, does Hixxy own the rights to the original then also?
CDJay He purchased the UK dance back cat around 2000, Afaik.

What do you think the chances are?
djDMS Probably about the same as ever seeing Raver Baby mp3s

Samination greater chance than me getting a girlfriend, outside my hands
warped_candykid Hixxy won't give up Toytown...so I can't see him giving up Heart of Gold since it was just as big as a hit.
DjZelous Someone eventually is just gonna dub all their raver baby vinyl over to mp3 which will sound great and the problem will be solved. Since the label is dead, would it be considered piracy?

It would be considered piracy by a literal interpretation of the law but not by the spirit of the law.

Also, you would be strictly limited by quality of the available record. It could sound great, or it could not.
Samination I haven't re-recorded most of my raver baby in years, but yea, I think a bunch of them had dodgy pressings

It's not that he won't give it up, he just has his reasons why he can't just yet.

Im not too sure on that, i have quite the bunch of raver baby vinyl and they all sound excellent in my opinion, especially Bang 9, ive played that record over wayyyyyy to many times and i still get great sound( might post a clip ), but i wont argue that the DAT Or WAV masters wont sound better than the vinyl
Samination pretty sure he sold the rights to AATW, considering how their milking it with Llorenna/Flip n Fill
