Captain Triceps Very respectful tribute, Guest. This would be a definite comfort to his heart broken family.
Audio Warfare Ahh that's a shame. Used to love the Nightmare on Elm Street films back in the day. So cheesy to watch now but I guess that could be said of most 80's horror films.

Yeah I was a massive Freddy fan as a kid. Like you say, cheesy as hell now but it sure beats the endless stream of 'suspenseful' (ie nothing happens) horrors, shit found footage, boring 'you-think-they're-evil-but-really-they're-not' ghost stories and same-as-all-the-rest exorcism films we have now.

True, not seen a horror film I've really liked for a while now. Blair Witch, Paranormal Activity and the likes are absolutely terrible. I quite enjoyed the film adaptation of The Mist and the modern remake of The Last House on the Left but that's about it.

May have to grab the Nightmare on Elm Street films on DVD and watch them again as it has been a while! used to have them all on VHS but chucked all my old tapes out as I didn't bother to keep a VCR.

Captain Triceps My Mrs is always watching these horrors. She always says they were shit as well, why the hell bother?
I do love a zombie film, although with horror I tend to like 'could actually happen' films.
I didn't particularly mind Blair Witch and Paranormal Activity for what they were (although I'd probably not appreciate them now) but it's when the copycats came along the novelty soon wore off.
There's been some decent remakes, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Hills Have Eyes, I Spit On Your Grave, Dawn of the Dead (original is my favourite film by the way), amongst others. They aren't to everyone's tastes but I thought they were surprisingly good.

Yeah I do like Zombie films so I should probably check out the Dawn of the Dead remake. Enjoyed the original quite a bit. Did you ever watch Braindead if you like zombie films? Absolute B Movie sillyness but in a deliberate and good way. I watched through The Walking Dead series which I enjoyed too, it's pretty good. Not a film I know but still...

I hated Blair Witch and Paranormal Activity so I have no desire to watch copycats of them haha. Just doesn't do anything at all for me.

Captain Triceps Yeah Braindead is a classic, and so is Bad Taste, both early Peter Jackson films for those who don't know.
The remake of Dawn of the Dead is different enough from the original to be worthy of a film in it's own right, there's zombies, the shopping mall and a few subtle references but that's it. Like I said the original is my all time fave, so I didn't expect to enjoy the new one but it is a very well made film.
If you like cheesy old horror with over the top gore have a look at Toxic Avenger. Don't buy the cut-to-pieces DVD release though, the gore is part of the humour and removing it makes the whole thing pointless.

I thought The Mist was alright, not really my cup of tea. I'm positive I've seen Last House On The Left as a kid but don't remember much about it.
