Free outdoor parties are great 
Every summer, we organize a free party every week end. Great meeting place for people who go to pay parties after. Otherwise, still great for people who don't have money to go to a pay party. I think free parties in the afternoon in parks are fun too. We do those too.
As for pay parties... you pay to see the big talent and deco and lazers... Those are elements you can't afford to bring into free events. So it's a different experience. Nice as well 
Both are good. But yeah, in the summer, there should be more free parties coz you can do em outside.

persoanlly imo its a pay rave i do love raving outside dont get me wrong but i prefer the indoor rave expierence better, not to say if any1 did put on a big party outdoors id def go ;)

As Junglist said and Jutt. I am down with both, except that 5:30 am feeling of i am in the woods' mountains and there is nothing around, its miles home I don't have a car and i want a cup of tea. So for then inside is better but then inside you don't get to see dawn on a summer solstice

free parties are fun but they are usually lower quality than you're paying ones. you can have a lot of fun at either; however the more money you have to pay usually the more comercial the party is going to be, which can be a bad thing.
as far as an outdoor party vs. an indoor party, i'm outdoor all the way...nothing tops listening to a dj watching a sunrise. i much prefer that than walking out a warehouse being blinded by the sun that's been blocked from view =P

We usually have the city's permission. We do em even in parks downtown
and yeah, we do free parties in the summer only when it is warm

Trouble is, when i lived in Wales, even in the summer you couldn't be sure
it would be warm, it was usually windy, rainy and cloudy. Still Wales is so pretty I didn't care. Over here it's warmer but flat, so flat!! Coming from the mountains it was a bit of a culture shock to say the least.

I don't know about anywhere else, but down these parts a free party would mean (1) an over-18's do at an early (4am-ish) closing venue, or (2) an all ages day party. If I'm not in the mood for a ridiculously long night then this is ideal, but otherwise ...

warmth shouldn't matter. if you're raving like mad then the heat won't matter,compared to an indoor event where you're sweating your balls off

I don't mind both. The trouble with some free partes is that the promoters pick a small venue and you might have a couple of thousand ravers stampeeding the door, not a pretty site!
