INTERNATIONAL DJS

[lurl="/records/record_artistprofile.asp?action=artistdisplay&artistinfoid=25"]Scott Brown[/lurl] (UK)
Scott Brown is undoubtedly one of the most important figures to come out of the Scottish music scene and is now rightfully known as one of Britain’s No.1 Hardcore DJs. His unique sound helped put Scotland and dozens of other hardcore artists on the world hardcore scene. As well as producing hardcore, Scott has hit the charts a number of times with his band 'q-tex'. Scott spends most of his life in the recording studio where he has produced tracks for labels all over the world including Neophyte, Traxtorm, Rotterdam Records, Mokum, Baby Boom, Industrial Strength, VHU, Happy Traxx, and so on.....

[lurl="/records/record_artistprofile.asp?action=artistdisplay&artistinfoid=975"]Rob Gee[/lurl] (USA)
Few DJs can play music that hits hard as hell and moves a crowd to dance. Few can write original songs that make you want to sing. Only a special artist can play live in front of 1 million people. ROB GEE can do all this and more…

GEE's history of DJing and live performance shows his dedication to bringing electronic music to a wide variety of listeners. GEE's love of hip-hop, breakdance, techno and metal set him apart from the rest. While other DJs make tracks, ROB GEE writes original songs, such as the acclaimed, "Ecstasy You Got What I Need". While others are just spinning records, GEE is a true entertainer who keeps bringing delirious audiences back for more.

[lurl="/records/record_artistprofile.asp?action=artistdisplay&artistinfoid=36"]MARK BREEZE[/lurl] (UK)
Ever since he can remember, Mark Breeze (a.k.a Breeze) has possessed a natural love and flare for music. Having enjoyed his first immersion into the world of the dance scene during the tender age of 15, it was in 1985 that Mark was drawn into the studio with a rap artist, who at the time was working closely with Double Trouble’s Leigh Guest and Michael Menson. The end product was a track that was to be engineered by the infamous Double Trouble at Noisegate Studio’s, London.

After this initial taste of the music industry, the realisation hit home that nothing else could ever come close to the fulfilment and buzz that was involved in producing quality music and ever since then there has been no looking back.

His first residency which helped contribute to the foundations of modern day dance music as we know it, was at the much acclaimed Langtry’s club in Beckenham, Kent. His prerogative – to instil a fresh, new, fast and frenzied electronic dance music to the clubbing scene. This style was to become known as Acid House and went on to send shock waves throughout the music scene, permanently changing clubbing culture forever.

During this time the dance scene literally exploded and Breeze continued to enjoy DJing and paving the way with the latest, most energetic and ground breaking styles to become a crowd puller in his own right, thus marking his name as a firm favourite with regular promoters, such as Taste, Fruit and Sweat to name just a few. This exposure and ever increasing popularity made Mark “hot property” throughout the dance scene, enabling him to develop permanent contracts with leading “big fish” promoters such as GodsKitchen after moving to Northampton in 1994.

[lurl="/records/record_artistprofile.asp?action=artistdisplay&artistinfoid=57"]DARREN STYLES[/lurl] (UK)
Encouraged from an early age by his father, an avid blues fan, Darren had always possessed a passionate craving for music. Many late nights were spent enthusiastically mastering his natural ability on the keyboard, engineering it into an undisputed skill whilst developing his own style, ever inspired by Dance music.

Armed with this passion and well-earned musical talent, this 16 year old with serious ambition was to become one of the biggest ever names in the Hardcore arena.

At every available opportunity, Darren and 2 friends could be found making original tracks in the music studio and at school lunch times, the 3 of them, under the name “The Evolution” would hold mini-raves in the school hall - along with strobes, smoke machines, their own tunes and even someone walking round with a bucket for charity donations! …Little did he know where it would take him!

In 1992, during a wintry February night out in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, Darren had his first “hands on” experience of the then underground rave scene - the venue being none other than the un-forgettable “Oscars Nightclub” situated on Clacton Pier. This initial exposure instigated a desire to be at the heart of such a community, and since that rainy February evening, Darren has never looked back…

In 1993, Darren, had already gained much experience from a raver’s perspective, and alongside his diverse musical knowledge and curiosity, he found himself wanting to experiment with “the decks”. After saving the proceeds from a Saturday job stacking shelves in a supermarket, he became the proud owner of a second hand record collection (many of which are now true classics!) alongside some brand new Technics 1210’s. Needless to say, the combination of natural musical ability and a taste in vinyl, which echoed the dancers lust, culminated in an aspiring and highly motivated young DJ with seemingly effortless mixing skills. Later on in ‘93, he clambered further up the musical ladder, when he grabbed an opportunity to impress the owner of the aforementioned “Oscars Nightclub” with his DJ’ing, and in a bid for a residency, rightfully walked away with the job!

Following a chance meeting at Oscars that same year, his budding hardcore collective “The Evolution” formed an alliance with local hardcore legacy, DJ Force (Paul Hobbs). The resulting production entitled “Fall Down On Me” (by DJ Force and Evolution) was to be released on the “old-skool” acclaimed Kniteforce Records, and went on to become an anthem of it’s time. Very soon after, their efforts were finding their own way from the school dinner hall, into record boxes up and down the country – and maybe most significantly of all, the record box of the then hardcore master, DJ Carl Cox!

Musically, Darren and Paul were evolving fast, and eventually, the two of them agreed to team up, and “go it alone” without the remaining 2 members of “The Evolution”. This shrewd decision ignited a spark, and the two became the legendary duo with the Midas touch, the possibly biggest ever act on the happy hardcore scene, Force and Styles.

The UK sets look really good. Breeze and Styles b2b should be awsome.

I saw Scott Brown at sundissential recently *He was kinda blurry at the time*
Nothing wrong with the way he sounded though. 8)

I'm looking forward to my next big night out......It's a rave in an open air napoleonic fortress!!(So the flyer says)
8) Scott's playing that too....Along with Brisk and Stu Allan(big name in Manchester).

Roll on 2nd August.

Play it Hard.
Play it Fast.
Play it Loud.

pixie_raver room2 starts at 9?
what time does it start.

less than 4 hours ! yeh baby :)
see ya all there

toxic Rob Gee sucked, it didnt appeal to me, but thats just my opinion.

Thought the rest of the night was pretty good though.

Whisper something nice, and ill make you scream twice !!!
pacman rob gee = idiot as usual.
having a "nu talent" on at 9 and not letting people in until quarter to ten = a big shame from powerhouse.
fights = not good.
guy in swastika tattoo punching random 'ethnic' guy = wtf?
guy in swastika tattoo getting rushed by a group of people = good riddance
rob gee's terrorism track = i left just before it, if i was there i would've thrown my bottle of water at his head.
more fights = what was going on?
some guys jacket being set alight = love is in the air!

breeze & styles and scotty went off as expected, but there seemed to be an unusually high amount of violence and aggression at this party. didn't see you kev or carlo there at all!?

And you would be typing with your nose right now, cause I would have broken both your hands. But let me entertain the thought, what was wrong with the track? (not that you heard it).

GregE it was the very fact that he tried to politise his set...i mean he was trying to push a point etc etc and personally i think that is wrong environment to do it especially considering the large ethnic diversity at the event....that is what made it bad...
but yeah i didn't see any of the violence so yeah cant comment, what i did see were some awsorme sets by scott brown (goes down as one of best ever) and breeze and styles
any way weekend ROCKED! back into hardcore uni again now :(
I SUCK AGAIN!!!!!

Well, I’m not going to say you’re wrong with the way you’re looking at it, but I believe you may have misinterpreted the point, if any, he was trying to make (and I absolutely agree with the way you present your opinion).
I'm from the New York area, just as Rob, where the twin towers could have been seen from both our homes. The first time he changed the lyrics to the song (the original song says “na na” repeatedly) was in this area, and you can’t imagine the response we got over here when we did it live. Everybody loved it to the point where he released the new version on vinyl (when changed it, he had no plans on that, we just rocked it live for the people around NY). The live version of the track got on the internet and he got responses and emails from around globe about the track and how people liked it. Rob definitely got some good feedback about the track from people from Australia before Godspeed and he played it. I really don’t think it’s that big of a deal. All though it is somewhat in the direction of “political”, I don’t feel saying “**** terrorism, **** Osoma Bin Laden” is exactly a political statement. It’s just a hardcore way of letting some of the aggression out. And understand, when those towers fell, there were a lot more people then American’s that died. You can’t walk down the street in New York and not see people from other nations appreciating the city and the diversity we have. Personally, all though I would like to say I love America and all that shit, I consider myself a human, and stating I’m from this place and love it only puts a degree of separation between myself and all other ethnic backgrounds when I know we are one. But speaking of diversity, being American for the very, very high majority, means that your ethnic background is from somewhere else. I’m Italian, German, Hungarian, and Polish…….but I’m American. Just about every American is like I am. It doesn’t matter where you are from here; Switzerland, Africa, Brazil, Antarctic and yes, Australia. If you’re here, you’re here. That’s one thing I like about this country, and trust me, there are a lot of things I don’t like about it (like our government).

Overall, I assure you, I have no problem with people’s opinions about his music or his playing or attitude or anything like that. If you think he sucks, you hate his music or what he plays, fine; I would never try to sway someone’s opinion like that. But saying you would throw a water bottle at one my best friends, and I’m going to do like anyone would, I’m going to back up my friend and speak up. Saying you would throw a water bottle at one my best friends for playing a track that represents disagreement with terrorism and catastrophe that happened here, and I will speak up loudly. I was in the crowd when he played the track, and I saw people getting down and enjoying themselves. I really don’t think saying you would throw something at him cause you don’t like the track is justified. Actually doing it, forget me having a problem with the justification, I would just start fighting whether I’d get my ass kicked or not.
BUT ANYWAY, I apologize for jumping in here with negativity. You guys are f-ing great over there. Your scene is awesome (and I don’t just mean Godspeed, I caught a few other events in Aust.) People were friendly as hell, and the vibes I got from the different parties I attended were fantastic. You don’t know how lucky you are. Keep it real.

pacman the problem is that saying "**** osama bin laden", "**** terrorism" is not a good answer to anything. neither was the bombing of the world trade centre. i'm not taking that stance.

what i'm saying is that terrorism is rarely an act of random madness. it has a message. i believe the american government has committed many acts of terrorism in it's recent history. when i go to raves, i don't want to be troubled with the same narrow-minded ******** i'm bombarded with in the media.

drugs is not the answer... drugs? is the question... yes is the answer
GregE yeah ok..u guys are pissed of i totally agree with that i would be too if someone bombed the shit out of my place...but thing is if i made a gabber song and played "**** george bush" and tried to get it played in us it wouldn't be alloued 1 and 2 it would not be appropriate, any way is wrong no mater what side u are on hey and as pacman said make a statment yes, but make it nutural....can i suggest "**** WAR!!!"
like it or lump it,, that what i feel and trust me when i say pacman and i aint the only ones that considered inappropriate i heard from lots and lots of ppls that it did not go down well
