Is it harder to mix Hardcore because it's faster, than other types of music ie: Hardhouse? Are any types of music more enjoyable to mix than others or does it depend on personal taste?

i can mix hardcore well,better than something like trance or garage,but i find hard house really easy to mix for some reason

my main reason for gettin decks was to mix hardcore, but i couldnt get hold of it anywhere cos i was so new to the scene i was looking in the wrong places. so i started buying trance instead, that then lead on to hard house and i stayed with hard house for quite some time, then i managed to get hold of hardcore, so i dumped hard house and stuck with hardcore, but with me still loving the trance i also still mix that too. out of the 3 genres, its hard to determine wich is the hardest to mix, personally i find hardcore is the easiest, even tho its the fastest. Once you get into your djing it will become easier and easier untill ur at the stage where some 1 can put 2 tunes on the decks at random and you will b able to mix em with ease. Trance is very enjoyable to mix, expecially due to its uplifting synths etc, but hardcore is also extrememly enjoyable, wenever im djing hardcore im always have my own little rave behind the decks, its great, especailly wen the crowd get goin aswell :)

I mix both Prog. House and Hardcore. I find that mixing Prog. House is alot easier than Hardcore, but most pro djs tell me that Prog. House is the hardest genre of music to mix  .

the modern day hardcore is a lot easier to mix than most of the older stuff. helps when most of the producers are now djs. pretty much all dance music is easy to mix when you know the record...

beatmatching is beatmatching. if you know how to do it, great. saying one genre is harder than the other is just an excuse.

i agree with No left turn. I started on my belt drives mixing hardcore and found it hard as fcuk so being a newbie to it i thought "ahh trance is slower therefore easier" i was very wrong. In teh end i gave up lookign for excuses and perservered till i cud beat match reasonably well then just kept at it, im not an excellent mixer yet but i am alot better and i can see improvements every week after ive been practising, djing isnt easy theres alot of practice needed...Thats why id class decks as an instrument and u shud approach them liek one.

The good thing about starting on belt drive decks is that once you have mastered mixing on them you can mix on any decks as they are the hardest to mix with :)

well ill tell u
I specialize all my skills in Trick mixing .... back and forth non stop...when math is involved ud fuggin be really surprised what cool shit u can do :)... besides faster shit is more fun :)

if you can beatmatch stuff at 220+ bpm, you can pretty much beatmatch anything...

regarding the comments about belt drives-is it worth me buying them to make myself better in the long term or going straight to direct drives?

i dont think so, some genres are definately harder than others. trance for example is harder than hard house because of the all the highs. if you touch the platter (or even use the pitch control) of a trance record it is very easy to notice the slow down / speed up of the record.
hard house is by far the easiest, you can pretty much throw two hh tunes on the dex and in about 5 seconds have them matched closely enough to have them both playing, making any adjustments on the fly.
