I've been using this site for a few years now, and I'm curious as to why we aren't allowed to use pictures in our signatures. Every time someone has one their told to remove it as it's against the rules but don't really give an explanation as to why it is.
I'm assuming there isn't a height, width and size limit at the moment for them meaning that you could put literally anything there, but with a reasonable width, height and file size I think it would work well and coding the limits in wouldn't be that much hard work.
I can understand why you didn't signatures maybe 5-6 years ago, so that pages would load quickly, but we live in a day and age where everyone has high speed broadband.

I think close after my joining there was some discussion about it and people had huge sigs. Then it was changed to a specific size or so? and even after that it got annoying and option got removed (if I remember well).
Least from what I can remember it has been removed because you sometimes have to scroll the double amount due to annoying sig pics.
now my memory isnt the best so I could've mixed up with some other forum :P but im pretty sure on this one :) either way I like it without sig images

there's no limits to them. Even if the files might be small, some idiots might use 10000x10000 sigs to ruing everyone's viewing the pages.

What purpose do they serve? Why anyone would think i want to scroll over the same images over and over and over again is beyond me.

Personally I actually tried to make it as less annoying as possible. I picked the smallest one ha ha... but I get the point. Huge or even medium images on every post would really make this place seem like it has more trolls than it actually does.
