noticed it sounded a bit dull so i'm trying to improve the sound quality any advice would be a huge help am i on the right track

what should i be doing exactly

Do you mean dull as in tone-wise? cuz I skipped over from listening to a mixtape and then to your track and yours is definitely "brighter".
