Mixes are perfectly fine as long as they aren't commercially available.

What about this... I want to know if I could send someone a track to timestretch for me (as I no longer have time factory) and they send it back to me at 170bpm. Is that allowed or is it a big nicht nicht? It's a Hypasonic tune off a promo CD that I want stretching to Squad-E speed. I meant to ask the other day and this thread has reminded me.

Or better yet, does anyone know of a good time-stretching programme?

If you were to send a link to it to someone in high quality .wav they could time stretch it for you tomorrow when they get home from work at 8pm.

I would be happy to timestretch it. I use Reaper for various audio projects, and it has a high quality timestretch feature called elastique pro.
You could also download Reaper and do it yourself if you'd like. Reaper is $60, but they have an unlimited trial period with no restrictions of any sort (just a popup reminder at startup).

I think I've still got Timefactory, from back in the day timestretching Scot Project remixes and the like.

Excellent! Thanks, I'll get on to that. I feel bad about disturbing Bake Off, though.

I'll have a look at this for future reference. Not heard of Reaper before. Cheers mate!

I've never managed to take a full tune at 140bpm and timestretch it to 170 with satisfactory results and I've tried Radius, Elastique and that Pro Tools one and probably some others. I've never done this but I think the way to do it properly is to timestretch each beat individually so you can keep the timing dead-on. I've always assumed that's how people make their hardcore edits anyway. I'd be interested to know.

You need the highest quality file you can get. The best results I got were by taking a tune that was 140 to about 160 or 165 and pitching it the rest of the way. It depends on that track itself, sometimes they just work.
I've never tried splitting tracks ups and re-piecing them after processing, but I wouldn't do them one beat at a time, it'd take aeons.

I'm mostly complaining about tiny little timing errors here. I got edits that were usable but anyone with experience could still tell that they were timestretched.
Gammer, for example, has a way of doing it that keeps the beat perfectly on time (e.g. his hardcore edit of Higher Ground). I suspect he chops the tracks up. Although, thinking about it, he may just have been given the stems for Higher Ground.

I timestretched, for example, Feeling Fine (Darren Styles remix) and Novaspace - Guardian Angel.
They were both almost perfect except for the odd beat in the intro, which was a massive pain in the snatch.

I've hit a snag, CT. The only file I could find on my computer was some sketchy timestretch I did some time ago. I must've overwritten/deleted the original rip. Please tell your friend that I need to retrieve said CD from Hardcore HQ (aka my mum's house) in early November and then I'll send a link over. It's only become a pressing issue this week because I heard the original version on the radio and that reminded me I still needed this time stretching doing.
Another unresolved issue I have that has gone for years is that I still need to
find a legitimate full length version of Alphabeat - Fascination (Orbit1 Remix). I believe some of you managed to get your hands on this when it was on sale some time ago.

I'll, er, let him know. I'll keep hold of the 200 pounds fee for now.
