Hey everyone, hope I have the correct forum here. I am a 26 year old ex-happy hardcore raver. I had no idea happy hardcore was still going, the last time I mixed it and bought any vinyl or tapes was in 1998 when I ended up going down the hard trance route (that was being pushed by Daniel Bunter and others at the time), I then moved on general trance and house. I used to run a record store that also closed in 1998. If anyone here used to live in Cornwall and can remember The Dance Joint then please get in contact :)

Anyway, I was a big happy hardcore (and hardcore before it) fan and have still got 100s upon 100s of hardcore vinyl from 1989 to 1998. The reason I am here is because I am so pleased happy hardcore is still alive, the only reason I knew it was is due to a link in Amazon that pointed me here, while I was searching for old skool tunes.

I have literally just visited the site, so I have yet to know who is still in the scene, I did notice Dougals name, which is great. I remember back in 1994 he did an interview in which he said hardcore would last to year 2000, looks like it has far exceeded that.

Are any of these still around ?? MC Robbie Dee, Magika, DJ Vinyl Groover, Sy, Ramos, Vibes, Supreme, Music Maker, Slipmatt, Seduction, etc.

Hope to check out more of the site :) Cheers one and all.

Good to have you here mate, the scene went quiet forra while after 98 then started picking up again about 2001. And your not the only one who didnt no it was still going many people tell me this all the time who were really involved in the scene back in the day. Hope you enjoy the site and the new music out there, hardcores got a lot of varaiation at minute so should find something you like as well as the old classics.

Venga familia!!!

Thanks for the info guys. I notice, from most profiles, that the majority here are under 20, so I am guessing the scene is reaching out to the youth too, rather then just old gits like me who reminisce on the good old days :)

Yeah, the scene seemed to die in 1998, I even had to close my record shop as the whole dance scene in general seemed to be on the way out, the fun times seemed to be dead. I also remember us getting less and less rave tapes in stock. I would have assumed the whole happy hardcore scene was trance by now, as in 1998 it was all pretty much trance core style, your XY2, UK44, TYT, Sunflower, GBT, Noom, and so on labels that were being played to the max.

Is Fusion still going by the way ? Those raves were some of the best in the early happy hardcore days (1993 to 1995). I even still have my "Voice of Fusion" bomber jacket that hasn't been worn in years.

Thanks again all and I hope to stick around for a while.

EDIT : Just listening to HappyHardcore.com radio, and perhaps I was right, as it is all very much your hard trance style that I expected. Is this just the DJ or is all happy hardcore now hard trance ? I know back when I left the scene in 1998, it wa all very much your Daniel Bunter style, he seemed very eager to push the scene the "intelligent" route of hardcore fused with trance, lots seemed to follow that style, and I admit I was with him all the way at the time. So has the breakbeat style gone totally ? Is Pengo style bouncy gabba still alive ? Sorry for all the questions guys.

Pengo bouncy gabba was the bollocks not really found anything similar to that in a long time. Not all hard trance style nowadays though you do find a lot of variation plus a lot of people on the rave scene still love the old stuff. Also check out different countries hardcore like spain, italy and japan for a bit of variety. Breakbeat style aint as popular anymore though and most young ravers about my age tend to prefer trancier stuff but it's still there and in very good quality if you look for it.

Welcome to the site... yeah happyhardcore is still around, sounds a little different to what it used to in 1998, it has lost alot of it's happy actually... Major players are still mostly the same, Hixxy, Breeze, UFO, Dougal, Sy and Scott Brown has broken into the UK scene in a major from Scotland.

If your looking for oldskool check out http://Shop.HappyHardcore.com we carry heavy back stock of oldskool...

Yeah breakbeats still going good with Luna C leading the way (but many others now joining in). KFA is going strong.

If you want a happy sound DJ's Sy & Unknown at www.quoshrecords.com are still pushing a more happy vibe.
