is it ok to overlap audio in the same audio channel on cubase? for example if i had a kick and then put another kick over the tale of the first kick.
it sort of greys out in the bits that are overlapping.
is it bad to do this?

I do this aswell when i cant be bothered choppin bits off. Doesnt seem to cause any problems, as long as the actual audio of the channels doesnt overlap or the underlaying audio has ended before the 2nd audio track is placed on top. That stops the 1st audio as soon as it gets to the overlapping audio track which isnt really a problem as long as you dont mind the audio from the 1st track cutting out.

yeah iv found you can get some cool effects overlapping the audio on kickdrums so bits cut out, but i was just wondering if maybe it could cause problems later on in rendering, or if it is considered 'bad practice'?
