Cubase 5? Does the job for me. If not the tonic fliter gets rid of any frequencies left over.
Ive tried the PSP master Q and wasnt that impressed, didnt seem to do anything that Cubase's own EQs / filters couldnt. Although it does look cool. What is it you dont like about Cubase's? Like i said Cubase 5s works fine for me but i dunno if your using an earlier version then fair enough.

If you're on a full version of cubase I'd say it's not what they seem like but what they sound like.
Use your ears.
That being said, back when I was on Cubase LE I did tend to use the T-racks EQ that came bundled with my soundcard.

Yeah the EQ's in Cubase do sound a bit weird, they are definately not acceptable for alot of things. It sounds really unnatural, although i still use it (and i am reffering to SX 3). For times where the channel EQ isn't good enough, i use Q which is in the filter section (it's an equalizer though) which sounds alot better.

im using cubase sx3. i mean the EQ on the mixer for each channel, its got 4 points on it that u can use to alter the eq. It isnt precise enough for me cos you cant seem to get a steep enough curve.
maybe i should use filters instead but i want to get good at using an EQ too if that makes sense?
plus you cant boost certain frequencys with a filter (and before anyone says it yeah i know EQ should be about taking things away but i want to experiment! )
so can anyone recommend a good EQ vst that you can take out certain frequencies quite precicely, maybe like a 32 band EQ or maybe something even better?
ill try the T-racks one and Q and see how they work..

Q is already in Cubase btw, when i said filter section i meant within Cubase, if for some reason you didn't know that lol.
The best software EQ i've heard by far is the Sony Oxford Equaliser, but it's not cheap....

EQing...
as I understand it, Eq isn't really an effect. It's more of an enhancer to what is already there. If you need to over equalize the sounds you're using then maybe you're not using the right sounds. there are times when extreme eq can sound like an effect but what I feel you're trying to get at when saying you want to learn to use eq, the answer is probably staring you right in the face. The old saying "cut instead of boost" is engineering wisdom at it's purest (there, I said it!). going back once again to what I said, If you've got sounds that don't sit well in the mix it's probably an issue of timbre rather than of eq.
