i need a faily priced one... and i don't trust web reviews.
any one have good experience with some?
is usb a good way to go for the price?
link me to one if possible please.

this is just for my dorm (i can't stand the sound my laptop alone puts out), and i'm not gonna be bringing my mixer there >.>

Make sure its got a soundcard of some type, realtek onboard is awful.

For laptops the best thing to go for is a USB sound card, at least that way you can use it on any computer you want. If you decided get a desktop computer for example the laptop sound card would be no good to you.
Anyway there is a wide range of such sound cards available ranging from all sorts of prices. It depends on the kind of quality you want as to how much they will cost. Anything in the £50-100 range though should be just fine for basic listening purposes.
