You really need to have a general idea for what you want. Else instead of a logo, you'll more than likely end up with a bunch of pissed off and/or disappointed people, including yourself.

as far as the actual logo goes, Apart from wanting it to look aggressive and i guess almost "industrial" there isnt much else i can say. That's why i'm looking for a graphic designer

i would be more than happy to have a crack at a few things, though i have a few projects on the go at the moment which im trying to get out the way before i can have a go at some!

Ah, that does help. 
No access to photoshop though (underpowered laptop running linux). So unless Rowan pulls something out that suits your fancy I'll give a shot at on Monday.

you want it simple really. modern text, and maybe a waveform behind it or something
what springs to mind when you say 'influx'.... well.. flux = fluctuation = waveform or something, they show fluctuations in a straight line to represent sound.
