Anybody know a good CD ripping software that can add the tag's from a centralized database to compilations (not just VA as artist name) and to Asian CD:s (no romanization, but whats on the cover)?
I used to use iTunes 4-7, but stopped after it started to suck. But it did those things. Now i use CDex for ripping, and it can do everything else, but those things i mentioned.

I use Easy CD-DA Extractor. It tries to collect information from freedb and musicbrainz where possible. and if you need to edit it's not that hard either.
Not exactly free, but not expensive, http://www.poikosoft.com/

Not a bad price if i bought as many CD's as i used to. But ATM i have a pile of 8 CD's that i haven't been able to rip yet. As I've mostly bought albums these days, and those CDex can handle.

i use windows media player and it sometimes will automatically give you the tags or you can search for it thru the database. i've been lucky enough to find the majority of the tags for my hardcore albums as well as my mainstream albums. not sure if it has asian albums in their database
also if there's something u don't like about the tags, you can change them before you rip them and it will keep those changes

HOW can you hate ID3 tags? It helps categorize songs without having to add every single information on the filename

AFAIK WMP doesn't support mp3's? Only rip's to WMA.

what information? all i want is artist and title. the only of thing i could posibly want is cd and genre - and for that there is the folder its in on the hard drive - all 4 bits of information remaining searchable by windows search without requiring any gay 3rd party software to "organise" them

After updating the program from 9 to 11, it seems they have now added support for mp3's. I'll have to give it a go.

K, ripped the CD's using windows media player. Seems to do the trick. Though its by far the worst CD ripping software i've ever used. But for few compilations, i can manage the cons.
Its a pain to change the tag's. It doesn't let you add disc number in file names. Almost all titles in its database need excessive modifying. The Finnish used in the program is one of the worse translation I've seen (its like the translator didn't know what it was translating and just changed the words with a dictionary without taking into account the content its in). For example theres no "artists", only "Composers" and "Participating Performers". Theres no track titles, only "Headings" or "Items". "Electronic music" becomes "Electrically charged music" (its usually called "Machine music" in finnish) and so on.

lol! well sorry man i guess u should just stick to something Finnish made, or make English your 1st language.
and for the most part the mainstream ones are almost perfect, but yes i have had to modify some of my hardcore compilations. i don't kno why some of them are so off but usually i've gotten the hang of it where it will take me only a matter of minutes to change it. the Tab button on your keyboard helps a lot. no track titles? are you sure you're making that column visible?

you should have gotten Easy CDDA Extractor or kept using CD-ex. For tagging I highly recommend mp3tag.de, It's donateware.
