Hey guys, I'm new here but been a fan of hardcore, both dark and happy for years. Recently I found out that acapellas for one of my all time fav tracks, Bang! - Shooting Star were made available. Even though it's been done to death, I've always wanted to do my own version of this classic tune.

Thought you guys might find it fun to listen to, so I'm posting the results here (hoping it's not considered spam or advertising):

Hope you like it, give me a message and let me know what you think!

If you never liked the original then any version will probably sound crap. I do agree with Samination though. A bit repetitive. I noticed you didn't use the pre-chorus chords like on the original next gen versions which might explain why it feels repetitive. It just doesn't build up. Take this from someone who also thinks this is one of the greatest Happy Hardcore choons ever written, please. :)

Sorry Rob but it seemed to me you came across as rude and un-inviting to the forums considering it's his first post.

Pros:
- I like the intro. Not too many people do short, sudden intros like this in hardcore as to appeal to DJs, but seriously, I like it when this is done, and you've nailed it.

Cons:
- Like what others have said, it's too repetitive; aside from the fact that you didn't use the entire acapella, there just isn't enough variation in the song (the verses have hardly any differences from the choruses, sans an extra synth and the original vocals). You could definitely add more energy by adding longer pre-choruses (quiet part followed by a build up) or two before the choruses, spicing up the percussion, and adding heavier, wider synths into the mix.

- The levels for Jo's vocals are too low, and get a bit lost in the mix. Boost them up, cut some of the low and mid-range from them, and you'll probably be golden.

- The guitar-like synth (or sample) is having an affair with the bass. I would recommend teaching it a lesson by cutting its lower end out, and maybe adding and effect to it (like a phaser) to spice it up and add more energy.

- Also, don't take this the wrong way, but you've also done something towards the end of the song that I consider to be a horrible sin! Not that it can't be done right, but it's just not working here.

I hope I've been helpful. Sorry if I've come across as rude or anything, it's certainly not what I meant to be!

Isn't that what the guys on eurovision song contest usually do? =P

well the 20 last seconds sounds nice, with the fading out with the vocals.

also;

Thanks for the feedback guys, even though I gotta admit it has been more negative than I thought it would be haha.

Anyways, this was the first happy hardcore style song I've ever done so of course it's not gonna be perfect. But special thanks to ChiefRocka for the tips!

@Samination.
Ah, you've found my other tracks. Nah, I'm done with Back To Earth... and I don't think Gonna Be Fun is that good at all, it's an older tune I made.
