I hate rap, but I make a distinction between rap and hip-hop. Hip hop, to me, has lyrics that are intelligent and insightful (digable planets, black eyed peas, jungle brothers, etc.) whereas rap is all ME ME ME (nelly, puff daddy, mystical, etc) I don't really know anything about your garage scene, but it sounds like the same thing as the rap scene here. You can only take so much of hearing someone rap about their money and bitches and how many records they sold, and besides that, they completely deny the roots of where their music came from because they're all about killing each other and sellin drugs whereas hip hop is about unity and respect and lettin it all go when the dj lays down a funky ass break. Bling bling rap could vanish and I think the world would be a much better place. ....and that's how I feel about that!

Hullo,

The only DJ I listen out for in the garage genre is DJ EZ worth checking out for his original mix style where he just chops into the good parts of songs! anyway i bought bass, breaks and beats 2003 and only listen to the DJ Hype (Drum and Bass) CD the EZ one is a rubbish. So if EZ's playing crap the scene most really stink. A lot has to do with so called mc tracks produced on playstations (not that producing tunes on ps is bad though!) with "geezas" chatting all sorts of jibberish about gat's and shinnaz. bling bling and all that.

Not sure if there was a topic about this (sorry to overseas readers)but on T4 (if your up that early to watch it) presented by the bird who use to do Mtv dancefloor chart years ago June Surpong and is proper annoying and one of the so solid crew Harvey . Well on sunday they did this thing called Hardcore Harvey and MC Ping-Pong and did all the cliche hardcore raving things then played "hardcore harvey's" remix of Christina A's new song. Thought it was quite funny and maybe a clue that hardcore is going into the commercialisation zone??

didn't really answer question

7 years ago yes
now? don't think so
