Yeah, but half the songs I bought are unmastered with no bass and boosted high freq! Gutted :/

That's DAT tapes for you I guess, and original production :P
I think digitalized Makina tracks from the 90's (especially on those Makina % series by Bit Music) are the worst culprits

Quality comes from production and not from mastering. I'll take an unmastered original over the current squashed nonsense any day. In particular, I'm glad that Scott Brown left the Evolution stuff the way it was when he started putting it up for download.

Yea, and with the WAV's being sold, you get a little leaway in mastering them yourself
