But I suppose 1996 is the mid era for "Happy Hardcore".
Oldskool Happy Hardcore is more 1994 for me.
I prefer Oldskool to be stuff from very early 90's like Acen, SL2, Prodigy etc etc.
Although these are mere preferences for me really, throughout what I have discouvered over my many years of electronic music listening pleasure.
But the fact is trust me over Force & Styles anyday of the week [@;0].

^^^ yeah i always thought oldskool was early nineties, the breakbeat type stuff. that's why the new breakbeat hardcore was referred to as new old-skool.
has anyone added this guy to msn to abuse him yet?

W/ all due respect, alot of the stuff that comes out on US labels is either completly made or at least helped along by a Brit.... except for simon apex, but never the less it doesn't matter wear yer from when u produce hardcore, caus in hardcore there is only 1 race, and that is the human race!!!!!!!! so tuff shit buddy

simon apex is british, call him on the phone, unless he is faking it. i've talked to him a few times and he sounds british to me.

Yeah i'm 17 n know my stuff i'd like to think:)
Stu Allan and other dj's booked in old skool rooms seem to b caning the 96 sound so perhaps old skool is moving forward coz it sounds significantly different to todays hardcore to make it oldskoolish.

UK may have invented the scene however take a look at Football, Cricket and Tennis!! I am glad the whole world can help ensure we don't destroy another good thing!! We are great inventors but rubbish sellers and exspanders. I have heard a lot of good US hardcore, Derek May was and is a God!! Now he played hardcore just after what you could resonably call Old Skool, I don't mind you having an opinon however just being offensive and WRONG!! is not clever hard or polite
