Just the one NSR Track on there: Eufeion - Turntable DeeJays
COH is definitely changing. Its great to be getting such quality tracks for free but COH used to be more about unknown or obscure producers, but with people like Hixxy and co on it now, its pretty much full of established artists, there are only the odd couple of 'new' artists on there.
Still, looks damn good to me! Much better than Bonkers :) Just would of liked to see some more obscure artists in there. Big Up to Ionosphere, Clive told me they were going on his disc. |

Cheers for the support all. As you know myself, Torpex & Joris worked hard on this COH to try an bring you a nice mixture of styles and DJs for the 4th instalment of this series. An we all feel that this has come out more amazing than expected.
It also gave myself, Cruze & Breaks, Haze & Suae and Entity a chance to try an bring you some new material, not just from us but from other artists as well.
I will say it's nice to see a full on Hard mix from Lee & Andy and it all being older stuff.

While it's great that some of you guys are offering to donate, we'd prefer to be on the safest side for now (= no income involved). We'll keep the idea in mind and possibly get back to it in the future, but not before we absolutely, totally and up front clarify what the donation money policy is (and it's impossible with COH4 because the whole project has been rolling for some time now). There are some costs and expenses connected with running COH, but it's mostly time, not money, so we're fine for now.
If you wish to "donate", please convert your money into time and spread the word. It's that simple. Post on message boards and forums (even small ones), message your friends, set up groups on social networking sites, be creative. Without your active support this project won't be big and I think we (the crew) are not the only ones who want it to be as big as possible.

CoH3 and prior included .cue sheets for quick and easy splitting / burning, though that doesn't necessarily answer the question as if they are going to distribute them as one giant .mp3 with .cue sheets or split mp3's with a .cue for burning.

Same case for COH4 - long full mixes with .cue files included for convenient automatic cutting. For those not familiar with .cues, here's what you can do with them:
1) Split the long mix into separate tracks (using, for example, free software CueSplitter)
2) Burn the mixes to CDs as audio with track separation (most burning software supports .cues)
3) Some players (notably the awesome foobar2000) will let you open the .cue file as if it was an audio file - if you have the long mix in the same location as .cue, the player will "split" the tracks just for playback (no actual changes to the file)
As you can see, very little extra work is required to get COH in the shape & form you want it. We'll include some more detailed instructions too.
As for the to-rrents - there will be no officially endorsed ones.

For COH4 we'll be using mirrored (3 or more locations) file hosting services. They'll be monitored all the time to ensure they're working fine. It's not the best approach in the world, but it'll do the trick all right. With a possible donation scheme for COH5 we might just be able to offer professional direct downloads. That or we'll find someone crazy and wealthy enough to host a huge media download which, with the current demand, is going to suck bandwidth like a vacuum cleaner contest held in a black hole ((c) Ishkur).

The reason for this delay is a minor technical issue with one of the mixes. We could just let it fly since it's really really minor, but it can (and will be) fixed.

Nice! I was wondering if the albums would be available again, or if we had to use the *******s from now on. Great news, I'm missing some of volume 2 and 3.
The 4th volume is currently the album I listen to the most... I overlooked it when it first came out, but it's really amazing! I would totally pay for something like this... Surely the new website will have an option for donations? |

Glad you like! As for donations, right now we're considering an appropriate scheme and consulting it with involved artists. This is a free project and any money coming into it needs to be tightly controlled, otherwise imagine each involved party (hundreds of people in the end) potentially holding a fan in one hand and a spoonful of shit in the other. ;) |

I understand how this could get complicated. It's really a shame though, since it would be well deserved. Oh well, I'll keep enjoying the music and spreading the word.
I guess one of the reasons why I overlooked the album so much when it first came out is because of the "free/online distribution" aspect. Maybe it just seemed too good to be true? It also features a bunch of artists I only started paying attention to recently, so even though it's already the fourth volume, I didn't exactly know what to expect.
Either way, I find the album is a huge step-up from the previous volumes, musically speaking.
Oh, and keep Eupheion on the line-up for the next ones please! |

Don't get me wrong, the donations will most likely proceed anyway, we just need to have the scheme 100% clarified. When Joris wanted to sell some physical copies of COH3 to cover the costs of their production and shipping (and he's a freaking amazing artist-designer, so they would all have been hand-made and potentially worth a small fortune at some point), all hell broke loose and he had to take down the whole concept - which was a damn shame. We (especially Joris) are really trying to step up the COH game with such initiatives, but need to lay them out with extreme care now. |
