Mostly predictable! (and predicted in the car on the way to the event)
Joey Riot was the only really deserved one cos he has gone all out for this year.
Slammin Vinyl best record shop - wtf????? |
djDMS |
My opinions.
Best Hardcore DJ:
Darren Styles - Not the best DJ by a long way but certainly the most popular to your average raver
Best Mc:
Storm - Still close to being my favourite MC, also most popular.
Best Hard Dance DJ:
Kevin Energy - well deserved
Best Breakthrough DJ:
Joey Riot - again, well deserved - i used every last bit of my energy in that last hour!
Best Breakthrough Mc:
Casper - on last nights performance, again well deserved.
Best Producer:
Darren Styles - See best DJ
Best Tune:
Darren Styles - Save Me - see best Producer/DJ
Best Record Label:
Raverbaby - again, one for your average raver. They got the votes so who can complain?
Event Of The Year:
HH Weekender 2 - didn't go but no arguments from me.
Best Record Shop:
Slammin Vinyl Online - the most confusing one of the night! True, they do a fair bit of merchandise/tickets etc but totally unexpected.
Best Website/Magazine:
HappyHardcore.com - no comment!
Best Live Act:
RBC - tough one, not that much to choose from
Best Compilation Album:
Bonkers - expected. Maybe next years will be different (Hardcore Underground 2 anyone)
Outstanding Contributionto Hardcore:
DJ Hixxy - can't argue with his overall contribution but there are a handful of people who deserve it as just much, if not more.

Outstanding Contributionto Hardcore:
DJ Hixxy

To be honest, I havent heard much from Hixxy since the Clubland X-Treme: Hardcore 2 cd. I figured Sy & Unknown would have gotten something, they have been throwing out mixes from left and right! Alone with Brisk. So many DJs to choose from for the Best Hardcore DJ, and they had to pick one of the DJs that spins slow as crap. |
clarke101 |
I still dont understand why people are supprised by the results.
|
whittle1 |
Darren Styles fully deserved his hat trick in my opinion.
I'm sick of MC Storm winning, about time Whizzkid got some credit.
I'm very happy with the Best Website/Magazine and Best Compilation result. |

Best track was deserved, I'd even give him best producer since I don't think there's anyone else who can consistently make anthems like he can, but best DJ? No chance imo... |
mr_dom_uk |
Best DJ: SY
Bet Producer: Gammer
Best Record Label: Quosh or Next Gen & Blatant Beats

Best Hard Dance DJ - Kevin Energy
Best Breakthrough DJ - KuRt
Best Tune - Heaven 7 - Speak of Love
Best Record Label - NuEnergy
Best Event - Couldn't say, I've not managed to make any proper events due to the group of mates I'm closest with prefering Chesney Hawkes.
Best Record Shop: NuEnergy, never had any problems with them at all.
Best Website: HHC.com
Best Live Act - From the odd DVD clip, going to say Nu Energy PA.
Best Compilation - Hardcore Heaven
Outstanding Contribution - DJ Storm

I think bonkers won just because they used to be good. Now, there are many compilations that are much greater, i voted hardcore nation 3, the one with Robbie Long.. the best cds i've ever listened to! I voted robbie long for almost everything.. :) |

Taken from the news page:
The results are in, the winners announced! Last weekend in the UK saw the 4th annual 2006 Hardcore Awards held at the West Fest festival. We are extremely pleased and thankful to announce HappyHardcore.com took home the best website/magazine category!
9500 people attended the event with HappyHardcore.com's DJ Silver flying in from Tokyo to DJ the event in the hardcore room. All we at HappyHardcore.com can say is hardcore is certainly and mostly definitely alive and kicking and is abosultly one of the best genres out there. DJ Silver DJing in front of a packed 2000 people in the hardcore where from the stage you can't even see the back of the room and a sea of hands and glowsticks makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up and there is no feeling like it. From everyone at HappyHardcore.com we thank all the voting public, the ravers, event organizers (Slammin Vinyl) and all the DJ's and MC's for their support with the site. But the biggest thank you is to you, the person that is reading this right now, you visit our page and get all your info here, even if you only browse the top page, we wish to thank all of you for making HappyHardcore.com what it is today.

Styles obviously was mimeing. not as bad as jenna was but still mimeing. for me it was a real shame that the last 3 hours were all about people who voted that only buy clubland extreme and bonkers...
It could have been really good to show everyone who critisises hardcore what its all about rather than makeing it look as shalow as everyone says, keep mimeing out of hardcore. Dougal & Gammers set was flatout and would have been better without jenna jumpin round on stage for the pure porpose of looking good.
RANT OVER
Well done silver mate and kevin energy desserves his award and so many... more. |
