Bonkers 17 is set to be released on 29th October 2007 and will be called Bonkers 17 Rebooted.
This is all the information that is available at the moment, no word on the tracklisting or who will be mixing it this time but I think that there will probably be a new surprise to the DJ line up on this one.
Hopefully Resist will have some more information on it this week. |

why would she have knife to her neck? This is Hardcore, not Death Matal! And what is the latest scene killing haircut so I make sure I dont go to a rave with one? And if your doing a mix why cant I? My mix wont just have stuff from 95 (or in the 95 style) but stuff from 94-97 such as Bouncy Techno & Happy Gabber sounding stuff!

Not that it won't be strictly "upfront UK hardcore" coz... errm... it will. But it should do a far better job of depicting that category accurately and broadly than expected.

I'm getting bored with Hixxy's mixes. I wanna see someone else take his place for a change, although I very much doubt that will happen as its because of Hixxy that Bonkers existed and he'll continue to do CD1 right up till the end. |

I kinda agree, I think Hixxy's Bonkers CDs lately haven't been nearly as good as Bonkers X and XI (fave) but I do like most of his Clubland CDs. But maybe we should blame Re-Con (even though I really like his work) for the uninspiring recent Bonkers CD1s? |

I think Re-Con & Hixxy's B15 mix was pretty damn good and I really don't care much for Hixxy.
I don't see the point in taking Hixxy off a CD in favour if Squad-E claiming that the new style would be good, it's the same old RB sound that Squad-E produces. It'd be like taking Sy off a CD and replacing him with Unknown.

I didn't say "remove Hixxy, put Squad-E instead". What I meant was a CD4 by Squad-E. :) B15 CD1 had a few nice tunes, but as a whole I think BX and BXI have been best and the ones after have been so-so. |

bonkers is one of the few albums that actually stands out in the scene & im throughtly lookign forward to 17 & hope that Sy or Dougal are on it..

Tell us the info or if you cannot, then say nothing! An online retailer has posted the artwork for upcoming "Bonkers 17 - Rebooted" album by UK record label Resist which reveals the complete lineup for the new album.
According to the artwork the line up will be:
Disc 1 - Brisk & Ham
Disc 2 - Sharkey & Kevin Energy
Disc 3 - Scott Brown & Marc Smith
What is quite obvious if your a Bonkers fan is the abscnce of a DJ Hixxy mix, in fact for better or worse there is no RaverBaby artists on this new album which is a quite different to past Bonkers albums to which have had been RaverBaby influenced to a degree. "Bonkers 17 - Rebooted" is set for release October 29th 2007, the artwork may not be final.

Why does Ham look like Hixxy but with different colour hair?
Why does Brisk look like a 90 year old man?
I hope to god Brisk & Ham don't just play all their NG&BB stuff - don't get me wrong, I love Next Gen but I want a variation of UK Hardcore that includes Quosh, Essential Platinum, Raver Baby, Maximum Impact and all the rest.
And I would prefer it if Scott Brown & Marc Smith built up to the Gabba gradually rather than a full CD of it. |

Reason Hixxy aint on their is simple. Clubland Extreme Hardcore 4 is out a month after this , so exclusive material from that will be held back.
Bonkers really needed this change , and i'm all for it. Again from what i hear , the tracklisting is going to be really varied , and there will be virtually no loading.
From what i've heard regading some of the tunes and artists on their , this will be something special.

Resist isn't Hixxy's label . it isn't even a label.
Funny thing is , most of the times when previous Bonkers albums have been announced , the majority of people are like , "Oh , usual names , Hixxy etc etc , Bonkers needs variety".
As said , this is what the Bonkers franchise needed. And be also very thankfull this isn't gonna be loaded , as it so easily could have been.
It's been mixed , so tracklisting shouldn't be too far off. ;) |

Most people think of Marc Smith as beeing Freeform because he always has stuff on Sharkey's mixes (and mxied with Sharkey in Bonkers 15) and alot of his stuff is on Sharkey's earlier Bonkers mixes when it was called 'Trancecore' (Old Skool Freeform) He isnt shy of using Hard 'Beats' maybe him and Scott will have a bit of Bouncy Techno and Happy gabber before the agressive stuff?  Suprised Hixxy isnt on Bonkers as he has only been apsent from one (Bonkers 6) and with Brisk and Kevin joining who will take thier place on hardcore Heaven 5 (maybe Hixxy or the return of Sy?) and also a welcome to Ham on Bonker's whos track 'Is anybody out there' is one of my favorites on Sharkey's mix on Bonkers 1!

I am a little disappointed that Hixxy will not be on this album cuz 4 me he was alwayz the one 2 bring the more happier tunes. It reminded me of the late 90s hardcore sound. Dougal and Gammer were the only other ones to bring the simliar sounds as Hixxy.
As 4 Brisk and Ham, I am glad that they will b on the album. I just hope that they don't do what they did on Euphoria Hardcore and stick 30 songs at less that 2 1/2 min. each on a cd. I enjoy my trax being longer i get more in2 them that way.

What are you talking about? Brisk & Ham, & Vagabond have been releasing some pretty cheesey hands in the air tracks recently. Hixxy's mixing has become slower and his production has become stale. He hasnt brought any new sounds to Hardcore for a good while. I think Brisk & Ham will deliver a a nice bouncey mix, most likely ending with some gabba, and if not, probobly a whole mix of upcoming HHC anthems.

I was going to say **** you all for saying that Hixxy doesn't belong in Bonkers and that many of you guys say he's boring and stuff. But when I read your post I saw that Clubland Extreme Hardcore 4 is coming in dec, if thats true I have much to look forward to because he is my favorite Dj, and I have to say that I was very disappointed when I saw the dj lineup first today. But as I said then I read your post so it's ok now.
But if you ask me I'd say Hixxy is the most important guy in Bonkers and I didn't think there would very be a Bonkers without him but I'm looking forward to see what Brisk and Ham can bring.

As far as Bonkers 7 goes, I will agree Dougal had some of the best tracks. If Hixxy's mix would have been 170 bpm, it would have been better! Sy's tracks just seemed....empty of creation. Bonkers 4, Dougal had an excellent mix. Sharkey had an incredible mix, and I dont like freeform, lol. Hixxy's mix was sorda too repetetive in sound, but I love the opening track.

Top stuff, great line-up & artwork, only thing which could have been better would have been to include a TnC DJ but I suppose HU2 and a combination of all discs will make up for that (at least 1 DJ on each disc has been known to play TnC tunes). But yeah, this is good news :) |

Sharkey's and Kev Nrg's disc will be pretty good. Good enough for me to buy it? Probably not.
I think Bonkers should take a little break. They need to get those creative juices flowing again. I haven't heard any stand out mixes since Sharkey's disc on Bonkers 13; my personal favorite. |

Scott Brown is really overrated, in my opinion. He has a few good tunes (Neck Breaker (Dougal & Gammer Remix) is aaaaaaace), but most of his tracks just sound silly for some reason. I really can't take many of them seriously. :P Still, looking forward to Bonkers 17. |

Okay, I take that back and say: I find _some_ of his work silly, instead... An example is the little chimey sounds he sometimes uses, listen to the beginning of Prince Of Darkness and you'll see what I mean. I love the Prince of Darkness, but I find that chimey thing distracting. ;)
And I don't like 95% of his gabber stuff, he's better off with tracks like All About You, Neck Breaker, Fade Away, I'm In Heaven etc... That's what he's best at, imo. :P |

Yeah although i'd say its more a track that should of been released on Evolution Records given its Scott Brown style riff, that along with Guiding Light are 2 of the best from the album and one of the best releases on Next Gen in the past 2 batches |

I didnt realise the 1st time i listened 2 it, but its like a cheesy love song (with the guy n girl both singing about eachother) ,but hardcore style, its well ace. Normally on songs wiv MC's in they r just goin on about raves or the hardcore scene, so i like how this 1 is different. |

i only got mine 20 mins ago haven,t listened 2 any of it yet but i was on the fone 2 me mate and he wasn,t happy about sharkey an energy mix and this is cuming from a sharkey luver he said the first song sounded different and that he didn,t here any electro tunes or stuff that sounds like freeform he also said bonkers anthem remix crap and i have heard a we bit of it and it doesn,t sound good but he said technowonderland remix good and 2 listen 2 scott brown and marc smith mix last as it is ****ing brill and something about the songs mixing in which is brillant |

yea i can see why he didn't like the sharkey and kevin energy mix. it is totally different than what sharkey normally does. he usually likes to do a lot of faster energy trax but this has some of that as well as the usual hardcore that you hear today. it's almost as if it is somewhat the real replacement of the hixxy cd to me because i see similar styles to this disc and most of hixxy's remixes.

The Sharkey & Kevin Energy mix is excellent. These two b2b are awesome, so i beg of you Sharkey, stick with this man to mix with for future Bonkers albums!
Scott Brown & Marc Smith are outstanding. Some class vocal tunes on there. Best disc for me. |

ive just listened to all cds properly this afternoon, best cd by far is brisk n bacons, sum wicked anthems in there, scott brown n mr smiths cd was ok, nothin special tho, altho i really like livewired
and the three gabber tracks at the end, im not really that keen on freeform but i really enjoyed sharkey n energys mix, proper got me bouncing lol, mite even have to do a backup copy for the car
overall, wicked album, well worth the money, best bonkers since bonkers 10 |

Got this a few hours ago and tbh im shocked...it was actually ok.
The Brisk & Ham cd was the best out of the 3 which included my favourite track from the album. I wasnt too keen on the Scott Brown & Marc Smith cd exept the last few gabber tracks and for the first time in recent bonkers the sharkey cd wasnt my favourite just didnt feel anything special on it.
Overall though i would say its worth it just for the Brisk & Ham Cd. |

Its probably too late, but yes the wakey wakey remix is infact the Orbit1 Remix. I got stiffed big time. When I first saw the tracklist I emailed robbie long and sharkz, but it was too late and there was nothing they could have done.

Bonkers 17 best so far since Bonkers first release mixed by hixxy & sharkey. Bonkers 16 i started getting back into hardcore as it was the best one i had heard for years so it seems to be getting better. Lets all hope were getting hit by another wave of excellent hardcore like in the 90`s.
