*UPDATE: I have decided to no longer use fiverr as a means to take orders. I will continue taking them directly through my website/email.*

Hey all! Just wanted to let you know about the mastering service I offer for the electronic music community.

Cool! I'm not producing right now but I'm curious about your take on loudness war techniques. Does your standard practice include extra compression simply to make things louder, or would you only do that if a client requests it?

Producers and record labels, please stop "loudness war" mastering everything. It sounds terrible.

Also why are paid for masters coming back as 44.1 16bit wavs ?

Masters should be of a higher quality than that surely. Depends what the project was sent as , if it's 48 32bit floating point ? You downgrade it in the master ?

I look at the LUFS reading and aim for nothing higher than -9 on the meter when setting the limiter. We could go higher but I find this sounds good on spotify and is a good balance between loudness and dynamics.

Sometimes the loudness is already part of the unmastered mixdown.

I ask for the submitted tracks to be in 44.1khz at 24bit. Electronic dance music doesn?t really benefit from higher resolution levels. Saying that, I will supply the track at the same 24 bit rate if requested.

Not strictly true, all audio benefits from being at higher Sample Rates and bigger bit depths.

But in the case of 44.1 to 48 or 16 to 24 the difference wouldnt be that noticable, if noticable at all.

Average human hearing can go up to around 22kHz. I would argue that a 48kHz sample rate is actually more within the range of what is still perceivable by regular standards. For recording and mastering, 96khz or higher is said to be more suited for classical music or music with real instruments as opposed to samples, which is what is mostly used to produce electronic dance music. And these are rarely found higher than 44.1kHz. IMO bit depth is more important as that allows a higher signal to noise ratio.

True not many people would work at 96 , if any at all for this style of music.

But 24bit should be minimum IMO, I render at 32 bit float.

I just feel sorry for any mastering engineer in a genre where the idea is to go hard and loud, I doubt you get a lot of head room to work with lolol
