well i got some stuff on tapes i recorded off radio long agp that i want to get ids for....but like they have no lyrics i can post or anything i can describe with

so does anyone know anyway of getting the tapes recorded to my comp so that i can maybe put some soundfiles up for people to help me id with

thanx in advance

btw only equipment i got at home is my stereo and comp...lol so i can only work within that limit heh

you need a program called soundforge

but im not allowed to say where u can get it from!!

You don't need soundforge just to record a snippet of audio.... major overkill!!!

You need a piece of software called "Windows Sound Recorder" that is built into all versions of Windows (even 3.11 I think) and that records the input into a .wav file..... you then need some conversion software (do a search for "mp3 encoding" in google) to convert it to an mp3.

buy a cord that has a 1/8" plug on each end, and plug one end into the input jack, and the other into your cassette player / walkman, the sound should go thru the cord and come out your computer speakers.. you can then record with windows media recorder
