Ok Im planning on buying decks this week and I need to make a final decision on wether to get CD or Vinly...and don't say both because it's not an option.
Im a total amateur and i'll be learning everything from scratch so what's the best to go for? I need the pros and cons for each, any help appreciated!

Ok, I'm no expert here, but here's my two cents. Go for the vinyl - it's cheaper than decent CD gear, and having just started my self, I'd say that vinyl it's much easier than pressing all those buttons on cd decks.
Because of vinyls tacticle nature it's much easier to adjust, and well I just think it's a btter choice. CD will cost you more and give u less options.
This is just my opnion, so if someone does a bang up job with cd decks, cool, I'm not dissing you, I'm just saying what I think :D

I would suggest getting vinyl. You really can't find unmixed hardcore on cd's, unless you're going to pirate it (arrr matey). Also, at most events I've djed at they've never had cd turntables.

vinyl is not easier anymore some djs that i know also some some clubs by the way have some latest numark player and they are half computer based so bpm counter or automatic beat matching .
can use short samples and or simple scrasting but work with is not realy an art but more not done.

I've only used a CD system once and I didn't need to go back for more. Get some 1200s and go on from there.

Start off with Vinyl. IMO vinyl sounds much better for any form of Dance music...it seems to warm the kick drums, and really punch them out, and it just generally seems that little bit warmer. CD doesn't seem to do the same. Thats just my opinion tho, and I've heard many other people claim the reverse.
However, I still think your better starting out with turntables, as it builds up your DJing skills properly......think of it as building the foundations. These recent CD decks may be easier to use with all their beat matching and pitch matching automation, but if you can't beat match manually then whats the point?
CD Decks do have one advantage tho, it enables you to play out your own tunes cheaper than pressing dubplates.
My advice is get turntables, then later on get yourself a CD Deck(s) to supplement your setup.

vinyl easily,get cd decks after mastering how to mix on vinyl. it'll come as second nature

CD Decks are just as easy to mix with aslong as they've got pitch control. I got my Synergy CD2000's in Richer Sounds for £119 each but I've seen them on sale for £70. I also got the Synergy Hybrid mixer which is very easy to use.

Still their are people saying get Vinyl then CD Decks later but it's not gonna be an option I have one choice and it's got to be EITHER CD or VINYL.
Whats the REAL diffrences between the 2?

Forgot to add I wont be spinning much hhc mainly mainstream dance so getting CDs wont be a problem!

Most mainstream dance DJ's I've seen play with CD's even though most of the clubs also have turntables ... then again, a lot of these guys can't seem to grasp the fact that 'mixing' involves having both tracks playing at once for some length of time :P

vinyl i have soooo much fun wiv my decks there is so much u can do in a mix, i.e proper scrathcing, spinbacks, n basically if u learn to mix wiv vinyl u go tteh basis for ne club . coz virtually all clubs have vinyl decks and sum have cd decks aswell.

Basically it seems that Vinyl would be more fun....all CD seems to involve is pressing a few buttons and your set...although you do get beat counters etc with CD based decks usually so im still un-decided what to go for.
