yep, i couldn’t believe it!, hixxy is playing in Canberra Australia (a little government city of a mere 300k ppl) for 12 aussie bucks! :O!
only a few days ago i was being well depressed that i couldn’t go see my fav dj (and one of the best in the world) play @ Area 51 in Sydney cos im in the process of pay of 2.4k debt (new mixer, decks etc)
no longer the depression lasts!!!!! YESH!
this just once again proves that hardcore will never die! last year we had one, yes one dedicated happyhardcore night, already now this year we have had one, and there are three more on the cards in the next 2 months. anway here are the details:
Retox@Babylon:The Hixxy edition Feb 21st
The worlds No 1 Happy Hardcore DJ returns to Canberra.
Supported by Fenix, playing his new Hard German Trance, James Livingstone and Ken Jensen playing extended 2 hour sets, and Dave Stroud playing one of his legendary morning old skool rave sets.
With a visual feast by Eyebyte, the people responsible for the eye candy at Two Tribes, Submission, GCSSS, Transmission and Utiopia, all for a measly twelve bucks, this is a night not to be missed.
Also, in a back room blitz, Canberra's freshest up'n'comers will fight it out for a main room set at Retox in April. You be the judge! C u front and centre =)
Date - 21/2/03
Price - $12 on the door
Time - 10pm - 7am

Fenix hasn't played trance in years - I'd be very curious to see more info on this.
And saintberry: I absolutely love the way you refer to our capital city as a "backwater town"

^^ yes it is ... but you gotta ask yourself, how many countries would refer to their respective nation's capital as a "backwater town"? We're a weird bunch, we are.

oh its really a pretty fun city (if you dont like hardcore), just small, and is kinda out of the way of things ;) - but just like anything it has advantages and disadvantages (trying to find venues for larger types raves is pretty hard)
and yeah, i didnt know fenix played German trance, but some of that stuff is pretty cool and psy like so im keen to hear it.
hes coming back down on the 6th of march i think to bust out some hhc tunes tho =)

sorry if ive offended you strychnine.
but it being small can be good ya see, for instance, i live almost smack bang in the centre of town (10min walk from the CBD) and im surrounded by mountains and bush land. bad come fire time =P but great for the rest of the year, being able to go MTB riding and not have to travel anywhere to do it ;)

And as for Mikel playing German Trance, I'm still a bit lost. Is that what he usually plays when he's in Canberra?

Sorry just had a chat to Mikel on ICQ and he cleared it all up for me: yes he does play German trance at interstate club gigs.
