Well some emo is really good and well written. But there is a lot of stuff where the vocalist just has the worst voice you ever heard and it becomes far to painful to listen to the entire song, despite the fact that the lyrics are very well written.

well, emo isnt really a genre. thats why i had it in quotations.
emo is just rock with emotionally charged lyrics, that are usually negative.
not all emo is acoustic, although some is. some is also very very hard with tons of screaming. some has a straight punk beat, some has offbeats. its all different, and it gets alot of slag from people because of its lyrical content. but **** em ;)
and as for some singers having horrid voices, there is nothing that i can say to argue with that ;) but i can say that they are horrid because the person is hurt, which imo makes it sound good along with good lyrics.

Yeah,I quite like some of it.It's good to see that a few people aren't closed minded as others(mentioning no names).
I can listen to most kinds of music really,hardcore is probably my favourite though.

I hate to put some limits and definitions on music, but when it comes to emo, nothing that is quality punk rock should be considered emo. Pennywise isn't emo.

Sorry if I sound closed-minded or something (which I'm not), and it's cool if emo is your thing, but calling emo "emotional punk" is like calling happy hardcore "sped up gabber-trance."
