Heh, alright, read through this whole thing before you shun it as a crazy plan, I feel I'm on to something.

As the title implies, I'm starting a record label which will be called Carbon Based Records (someone catch me if this is already in existence.) Otherwise, it's copyright me... I already mailed out copies of the labels to myself as the reference. Just because I'm copyright obsessive.
On to the juicy stuff:
With exception of the first few releases (to establish it,) I want to run this label off of strictly unheard talent - I'd rather draw talent that's unknown but really completely rockin' without ever tapping major artists. So basically, if you think you got what it takes, come to me.
I have a plan as for royalties set up, but can't offer anything up front as I'm somewhat strapped for cash. I'm kinda hoping that in the end this will at least take a bit of the edge off, as well. If not, it'll still be fun. It's sorta a pet project, that's about it. :)

If anyone can point out things I'm doing wrong, I'd be glad to hear about it, I did some investigation in to this but I wanna play it by ear for the most part, hopefully I'll hit most of the right notes ;) I have plans in mind for what I want this to become. :)

Definitely, if it's got appeal and it's got the right stuff, I really won't question you based on name. The only downside is the royalties are gonna be a tad smaller since this is kinda running outta my undersized pockets...

i highly recommend you do a search for posts by Nick of Blaze! he has some very intresting and extremely informative posts on here about labels and tracks and such, good luck though =)

I 2 was going to start a record label in Sydney happy hardcore based as there isn't one around the thing is there are no happy hardcore producers in swydney well if so they are all assigned to other record labels and the quality still hasnt reached yet. A word of advice is if u r going to press someones track onto vinyl make sure u know who they are. Like in that i mean, know them in person otherwise both of you could be ****ing each other up the ass as u don't know one another. This becomes important as when you reach a certain sale amount you can have tax freaks after u who will demand money off u as u r basically a company once u r a record label although u do have to make a certain % to claim as tax. Also you should make a contract which every artist should sign again this is why u should know the artist in person. I mean i know the rules are harsh but if u follow em u can sleep in peace. Also have a few releases before you do distribute em as in this i mean like have possibly a few different styles and see what works i.e. maybe fre from works more then happy hardcore? Any how I can go on bout this for ages so if u want some more info just email me on. [email protected]. BDW its not as easy as u might think. ehehhe :)

yeah best of luck dude!!! i want to start my own label sometime in 2004. it's an incredibly noble concept and if you pull it off you deserve probably more respect in the scene than anyone! big-ups and keep us all informed i'd love to know if/when you make progress with it.
