Well to be honest im confused .
I dont know how just anybody can call themselves Dj's .
Is there training involved?
do you need a certificate to say your a real dj
What pisses alot of people around me is Djs who just speed up songs n slap their title on it.

I can admit im very in-experienced in this industry
so call me stoopid but i just dont understand

What about ppl who just mix songs on their pc's.
Does that mean they can work at clubs or is there different categorys and equipment needed etc...

Please tell me some basics so i can learn n understand.

p.s sorry for shit topic...

other things like scrating is just a bonus imo

I dont know how just anybody can call themselves Dj's . Well they do!
Is there training involved? None needed whatsoever, just an ear for the music
do you need a certificate to say your a real dj Nothing like that, anybody can do it
What pisses alot of people around me is Djs who just speed up songs n slap their title on it. That's because it's easy and people are dumb enough to listen

I can admit im very in-experienced in this industry
so call me stoopid but i just dont understand Ok, you're stoopid
What about ppl who just mix songs on their pc's. Some dj's use PC's in clubs
Does that mean they can work at clubs or is there different categorys and equipment needed etc... Depends on the club

Please tell me some basics so i can learn n understand.

The days of a dj just being somebody using 2 turntables to mix songs together are long gone. CD's are becoming the norm, as is PC mixing.

A dj is a dj, whatever their preference of medium. If you're good enough (or you know te right people) you'll get work. Most people are self taught although there are courses on 'how to be a dj' (can't imagine it helping someone who is shit though).

Personally i'm still old fashioned and prefer decks and vinyl but it's getting harder to hold back the digital revolution!

I am just a bedroom dj but hopefully i will be doin clubs hopefully in the foreseeable future and i would not even think about using cd decks, the only reason i could think of using them is to save time and money, but if you love the music your playin youl pay for the vinyl and help the hardcore scene out a little more with your purchase, also on cd decks, the dj could be bluffin his way through the whole mi and to the untrained eye you wouldnt even know, ive seen paul van dyke do that!!! Not that i like pvd, Hardcore or nothing for me!!! KEEP IT VINYL!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you're mixing DJ's up with producers, being a DJ doesn't mean you make music, it means you play it for other people... although alot of DJ's do make music

What makes a DJ you ask?
Well, i would say someone who can mix two or more records, cd or vinyl.
Scratching, Sound FX and other things you can input to your DJ'ing are a bonus.

DJ just stands for Disc Jockey, but i wouldn't call a person playing a tune one after another in a pub a DJ, even though they are classed as that.

Well, anyone can play two or more records back to back, that doesn't make them a DJ in the sense of a club DJ. I think what makes a person a good DJ is being able to read a crowd, I could stand up in the DJ booth and play records but if the crowd don't like the style/sound then they'll leave the dancefloor. A good DJ can keep people on the floor all night, a bad one can have them walking away straight away. Vibes is a good example of what I mean, technically he's not very good, his timing sucks in a big way. But he plays to the crowd and keeps people on the floor.
