If a topic is over 6 months old leave it alone as other members come along and just keep saying the same things over and over not realizing the topic is like 12 months old.

What happens if say someone requested a tune ID over 6 months ago and it had no replies, suddenly someone who finds out the name wants that person know...

^^ then it really won't matter, would it? You can post the answer to the track ID, and even if it gets locked afterwards the answer will still be there for the question-asker to read if and when he logs on again.
For things like this you really shouldn't think of topic-locks as a "slap on the wrist". They really aren't meant as punishment per se, but more a means of maintaining the currentness of the discussion. Of course, with mp3 requests and whatnot it's a different story entirely.

Yeah some of those locked topics are interesting to read and still quite relevant. The good ones were only locked because (a) the discussion kept going long after it should've died, or (b) the discussion died only to be "exhumed" 9mths later. If you've got nothing else better to do with your time then it's worthwhile having a browse through them, if only to see what twats some of the the Advanced Members used to be

hahaha i remember my first ever post. it said "whens hixxy playing in portsmouth?" didnt even introduce myself or anything! it was only a few weeks later that i realised that he wouldnt play here as there was no scene!!! its pickin up now tho, big stylee!!
