HARDCORE NATION CLASSICS

Nukleuz Records & Warner Music drop the ultimate Hardcore compilation: Hardcore Nation ClassicsThe only compilation album to fully offer a bonafide snapshot of Hardcore from the current classics, to the best of the Happy Hardcore years (mixed by the one and only Stu Allan) and finally the REAL Old Skool gems from the birth of rave. www.hardcore-nation.com.

CD1 Hardcore

Around 1999 various UK rave culture publications started announcing the largely mistaken "death" of Hardcore (too spicy for ya?! pah!) but it had instead just gone back to its underground roots. The last four years has seen total renaissance in the hardcore scene with hardcore becoming by far the most popular hard & fast dance music across the nation. Driven by the productions and DJing of Darren Styles & Hixxy, but equally by the creativity and enthusiasm of many of Hardcore's leading DJs: Breeze, Scott Brown, Stu Allan, DJ Seduction, Sy & Unknown, Dougal, Gammer, Brisk & Ham & the events such as Hardcore Till I Die, Vibealite, Uproar, Slammin music created is almost unequalled. Hardcore now rules. Included in this set of current Anthems are remixes of classic tracks including a brand new mix of CRW “I Feel LoveEHardcore happily mixes big crossover tracks as well as its own gems. No other dance music has the power & constant hands in the air enjoyment, and this is what this CD is. It's modern hardcore at its best.

1. JAKAZiD ft. Barry Scott - Cillit Bang! (Original Mix)
2. Sy & Unknown ft. Lou Lou - Caught Up In Your Love 2006
3. ASA & S1 - Making Me Wanna Dance (Sy & Unknown Re-mix)
4. Insight - Only Your Love (Scott Brown's Evolution Remix)

10. CLSM - John Peel (Not Enough) (Fergus Mayhem Remix)
11. Human Resource - Dominator (Joey Riot & DJ Technotrance)
12. Robbie Long & AMS - Trigger Hardcore
13. Dougal & Gammer - Xtreme
14. Mauro Picotto - Lizard (Robbie Long & Stormtrooper Re-mix)
15. Cappella - U Got 2 Let The Music (Voyce, Douglas & K-Komplex Remix)
16. CRW - I Feel Love (Breeze & Styles Re-mix)
17. Dougal & Gammer - Through The Darkness (Dougal & Gammer Re-mix)
18. United In Dance ft. Lisa Marie - Still The One
19. Visa - Fly Away (Hixxy Mix)
20. Praga Khan - Injected With A Poison (Hixxy Mix)

CD2 Happy Hardcore - Compiled & mixed especially by hardcore legend Stu Allan!

Between 1993 and 1994 the rave scene fragmented and forked off into two distinct styles, Jungle (Drum and Bass) and 4-beat (Happy Hardcore). And despite the Government introducing the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 the scene was still massive and the whole attitude to making the music was not too dissimilar to the punk ethic of the late 70s. You didn’t need a million pound studio that cost the earth to hire. It was all about the attitude and feeling that went into each track. With DJs like Slipmatt, DJ Force & Styles, Vibes & Wishdokta, Hixxy, Brisk, Clarkee, etc quickly establishing themselves as leading figures and DJ Seduction landing 2 Top 40 hits with “Hardcore HeavenE& “Come OnE The tempo was increasing too, 130bpm was fine back in 91 but a year later a track had to be around 150bpm. A year later, more again - and so it went on!

1. DJ Seduction - Hardcore Heaven
2. 2 Bad Mice - Bombscare
3. Urban Shakedown - Some Justice
4. DJ Seduction -Come On (J. Kalkan)
5. DJ Seduction - Can U Feel It
6. Gordon Edge - Compnded (Edge*1)
7. Force Mass Motion - Panic
8. Dr Krome & Mr Time - The Slammer
9. DJs Unite - Volume 1
10. DJ Seduction - Samplemania
11. Force & Styles - DancinEThrough The Night
12. Seduction & Eruption - Bust A New Jam
13. DJ Breeze - Let's Fly
14. Paul Elstak - Luv U More
15. Visa - All I Need (Original Mix)
16. Robbie Long & Devastate - 24 Track
17. Diss Reaction - Jiiieehaaaa
18. Hocus Pocus - Here's Johnny! (Hocus Pocus '96 Remix)
19. Paul Elstak - Don't Leave Me Alone
20. Scott Brown - Boomstick

CD3 Old Skool Rave

The early 90's were awash with the most exciting new sounds in the world, driven by the huge rave scene that had swept the country in the late 80's as a rebellion against trends in popular music, nightclub culture, and commercial radio and lead by party organizations such as Fantazia, Helterskelter & Raindance. The word "rave" caught on in the UK to describe common semi-spontaneous weekend parties at various locations outside the M25 Orbital motorway. It was this that gave the band Orbital their name and spawned other huge artists such as The Prodigy, Altern-8, SL2, Baby D & more. DJ's & producers were furiously working in their bedroom studios making these totally classic anthems. So here we have handpicked the defining moments of early rave for you all.

1. The Bassheads - Is Anybody Out There?
2. R.A.F. - We've Got To Live Together (Original Mix)
3. 2 Bad Mice - 2 Bad Mice
4. LFO - LFO
5. Anticappella - 2/231 (Original Mix)
6. Fargetta - The Music Is Movin (Original Mix)
7. Cappella - U Got 2 Know (Original Mix)
8. Altern8 - Activ8 (Come With Me)
9. Sonz Of A Loop Era - Far Out
10. Quadrophonia - Quadrophonia
11. Liquid - Sweet Harmony
12. Baby D - Let Me Be Your Fantasy
13. Rhythm Quest - Closer To All Your Dreams
14. Dream Frequency - Take Me
15. Kicks Like A Mule - The Bouncer
16. Jonny L - Hurt You So
17. SL2 - On A Ragga Tip
18. Terrorize - It's Just A Feeliing
19. Rachel Wallace - Tell Me Why
20. Goldie - Inner City Life
21. The Prodigy - Everybody In The Place (155 and Rising)

That bit made me laugh... As if it's the first album to do it FFS. Dicks.

Looks pretty run of the mill... Seen it all before. Can't be arsed with it TBH.

It's ok imo, not bad but not great. CD 1 I've seen it all before on recent compilations, CD 2 is far too slow for my liking. Stu Allan is a much better DJ than he puts over on this CD (as with his other recent album mix's). CD 3, again, it's too slow. Over all a good mixture of tracks but not the best mixing you could wish for. Sound quality fluctuates throughout one track has too much bass the next one doesn't have enough ect...

A good compilation, but flawed in many ways. Worth a buy if you don't have much old skool stuff.

I was gonna buy it today but then thought why bother!?
Heard too many tracks, and everyone is all of a sudden jumping on this 'classic hardcore compilation' bangwagon all of a sudden.

Happens from time to time, you'll get a cluster of them released all at once and then nothing like that for a while. Strange.

thats why I posted the old skool rewinds vol 1 thread! (proper underground early stuff that I remember when I first went to raves) cd3 is just like a decadance old skool (how many more of these can we release) cd! like I said a few months back on the Hardcore Nation classic thread! I was really hoping Stu Allan would put some underground stuff on there from his massive sellection of vinyl he owns! but no its the same sh*t different day stuff!

Stu Allan's mix sounds about the right speed limit for that time era for Hardcore, but he could at least mixed the last few tracks faster.

I enjoyed CD1 a lot more than I thought I would, nice long mixes although a few sound pretty dodgy, especially the last one where YET AGAIN (Hardcore Adrenaline) a track is mixed through a breakdown! Havent had a chance 2 listen 2 the other 2 yet.. will post later

So? what is your point?

When djing is it not better to try to have a variation?

I very rarely spin hardcore any more but with all others styles i would always try and vary my set. ie beat match, drops, scratch it in etc.

Beat matching is not the be all and end all of a good dj, the concept is maybe tricky at first but once you get it, it becomes a peice of p*ss to do

That these DJs should be able 2 beatmatch by now, especially on a comercially released CD. & that variation is good if it sounds good, which in this case it really doesn't.

Won't be buying this one, most of the tunes are on various different albums I already have.

Must of took all of an hour to come up with this piece of shit, cashing in.
