I wanna bring it here to sweden, so i have an idea. I don't DJ so I can't play it out to crowds, but here's what im gonna do: I'm gonnh to burn out like 30 - 40 bangin hhc and freeform mixes before every rave i go to (we only have psy-trance-raves here) and hand them out to people. Then write down adresses to recordlabels and sites and give it to them with the CD's.

I think this is the only way for people in sweden to hear it as we dont have any real compilations etc in our stores. Hopefully some people will open their eyes to HHC and Freeform and will start bying records and we might get a small scene here. :)

What do you think of this idea? Or is it illeagal to burn out mixes and give to people without a license? (Im not meaning bonkers etc.. just bedrooms-dj's mixes)

er... just get permission from whoever's cd it is to make copies and hand 'em out. that would bridge most legality issues with the smaller guys. it might be a better idea to get in contact with the promoters and show them the material, since they are the ones doing the parties.

We dont have "real" promotors here... we dont have rave in clubs. (Well.. sometimes maybe a few times a year there is some big rave with big DJ's in a big place, but not otherwise)...either we are in the woods (or someplace else outside in the summer) or we're inside in some abandon place.. And this aint leagal so if the police comes.. the rave is over.

So there is just ordinary people who desides to throw a party and ask their dj friends to DJ for them.. so no real promotors.

^^^ Sounds like you have the same problem as I do in Japan... In Japan the DJ's are not the key part of a party... it's more about the party name or venue and not about the DJ's or the DJ's skills or even the music they play sometimes...

So the headliner at most of the parties here is the promotor and all the DJ's playing at the event are the staff of the event (the people that hand out the fliers and stuff)... so unless you want to help promote the party you don't play at the party. This is the case for like 90% of the parties here... It's kind of a shame, the scene here could be much bigger if they actually booked talent insteed of booking DJ's that will bring their friends.

I recommend you put on your own events that is what I did, and I did all the promotion myself :)

you could start a pirate radio station, its not really that bad unless you have really strict monitoring in sweden . if its pretty lax in your area you can set up a local station to cover a town or small city for around £200 which is cheap as chips. 5w-10w is the power you'll need but 100w can cover a big city easily , make a playlist to play all weekend maybe stream happyhardcore.com radio and do some live shows, then get a name for the station, a frequency, a high place to transmit from then advertise it to local kids, bars, schools to get ppl interested. pirate radio is why hardcore exists trust me.
get in touch if your interested mate. i could point you in the right direction if ya wanted me to : ) respect
