I've known thunderdome for ages now, my fave out of the whole lot is 6 to 16... I can't stand anything beond 16 because it went all slow!! <that's just me though.

but particually with XI The killing playground, I have loads of arguments with my mates (I only have 1 mate I mean lol) what genre it is...

is it Happyhardcore with more Hard. or is it Gabber with a strong happyhardcore influence? don't forget this is from around the peak of it all at 1995/6

all the Thunderdome CDs always have a true Gabber track on the last track of both CDs and it's at proper Gabber speed like 200+ with metal guitar samples and waxweezel making funny voices like rob gee would!

early td's are basic early gabber. The one's from five on are gabber, but worked out a little more, less repetitive. from about seven, happy gabber joins the usual gabber in the trackilsts. around td 17 they get more serious and the happy hardcore / happy gabber leaves the stage. this slowly changes into a sound that is the start of newskool, but not yet seen as newskool. The actual newskool starts with thunderdome 2001 vol. 1. This is full of newskool (mainstream gabber) and a few industrial trax.

My favorite is psycho silence.

Keep it hard :D

well thanks knightmare, glad you answered it too, I was hoping someone from Belgium or Netherlands would tell me cause they know all about Gabber! heheh.

yeh, I would say 7 to 16 IS Gabber but it's just so influenced from Happyhardcore that you have a good enough excuse to call it somthing like "Happy Gabber"

I wouldn't call it Happyhardcore though because that was a UK thing and tiny bit weaker (mainly the kick drum) if you know what I mean.

know what I mean... or am I wrong, please tell me if I am cause I've been struggling on this one for some time!

Happy hardcore wasn't strictly UK, Holland had a lot of HHC artist in those days, as had scotland, Italy, the US, spain, ... . But you are right that happy hardcore wasn't quite the right term to use for it, the kick is indeed a lot weaker in HHC than happy gabber (although most pl around here just consider it ol'skool cuz it's from that timeperiod). And, as a gabber, I am happy to oblige in any of your gabber needs

cool.. thanks for that Knightmare, yeh when I goes Happyhardcore was a UK thing I really meant, it was real popular over here like more than over in Netherlands say, having said that, ID&T did bring out another CD Series calld "Happy Rave" and "Happyhardcore" both were the same tracklistings I think and got to somthing like volume 10.
I've got 'Happy Rave 2' it's ok but prefur Thunderdome.

anyway... I'm going to keep searching for that super rare "Xmas edition" CD (could be looking for a long time tho!)

as you kindly in a helpy mood, don't supose you could tell me what sort of Genre(s) "Earthquake" series did could you? all I know and can find out is they were also by those ID&T people again and have (as usual) rarther good front cover art-work.

Got "happy rave" 1 to 8, the tracklisting is very similar with "happy hardcore" except for maybe three songs a cd they both got to about 12 chapters, although happy hardcore had one more at the start).
About earthquake, that's just plain ol'skool gabber (got nr. 7 and a mate has got nr.8. At the local library they've got nr.1). The covers where always good in those dayz (love the coverwork on earthquake 1).
