hey, this is just an opinion so dont start diggin at me for this:
I really ****ing hate the word "techno" - rant over. lol
and there are way to many reason's why which i cant be bothered to say.
its hardcore, its drum n bass, its breakbeat, its gabber, its hard house, its trance, its house music...
you cant call it all techno - Techno, is techno, smitten is techno, stay up forever is techno.....
ranting to myself is fun. lol

Yeah, most pepole that's not into electronic music will call it all techno. So you cant say you listen to techno 'cause they will probably think you listen to goa-trance or something like that.
Problem is, here is sweden, if you say you listen to hardcore people thinks you listen to punk rock.

Here ppl call almoust all techno or trance, or if its an older person they sometimes call it Darude
If i say i listen hardcore, either they dont know what i'm talking about or they know its electronic music...

This is prolly not the right thing to be doing. But since i only listen to electronic music, around my friends i sometimes just called all electronic music techno becasue thats what people that dont know alot about it call it. If someone came up to me and asked me what i like if i said "hardcore" of course there going to ask "whats hardcore?" saying techno makes it easyers for telling people you know really dont care.

techno - should only be used for its genre..its like calling Dolly Partens music Punk, or calling Blink 182's stuff ballads! lol
if people cannot hear the difference between happy hardcore and progressive trance - they need the're ears checked...It cant all be techno!!! lol

hahaha true true, techno, real techno that is, has no melody its like 135bpm, with shit loads of percussion and basslines, its fcukin class!!!! progressive trance, oh yea love ittttttt

what do u mean 'ppl around here'? anyway do u no what the new monkey is? its a rave in Sunderland which specializes in Makina and techno so that might be y sum has called techno, New Monkey when in fact, New monkey is techno and makina (and sum hardcore and trance)

that last bit didnt make sense (well im a geordie!)
what i meant was, techno isnt new monkey(coz its just the name of a rave) BUT new monkey is techno. It wud be like saying all hardcore is Slammin Vinyl. Do u get my drift?

Aye Steve O, I know what ya mean, same in Teeside. In fact our mate says it all the time. Ive also heard people that think Happy Hardcore and Nu Monkey are actually song names.
