stand in your bedroom 4 hours on end wiv yer tunes blastin out & try to create rhymes in yer head to mc, after about 6 weeks of doin this you may be a slight bit better than you were wen u started. next thing is to determine your style of writing (and it should be your own style although its better to keep your lirics to sets of 8bars 16bars 32bars etc.). Once you do that its a natural progression you just get better as you spend more time doin it, there aint no special formula or owt.

Hmmmmmmmm its one of things thats in ya I guess m8.
What has been said, about the rhymes is a good bit of advice, BUT dont think ya have to rhyme if ya an mc and if ya have good lyrics it also doesnt neccasaliry mean your a good MC after all who wants to go to a rave and listen to Emininen all night? ;)
Yeah lyrics are all well and good and are seen as a big part of MCing these days but its NOT essential = Ribbz- lyricless but still sends the place crazy all the time with just words, its about connecting with the ravers and saying what YOU feel is right whether it be rhymes or whatever ya want.
The importance of an MC is to be host for the DJ and to compliment them. Ive found the best way to work with DJ's at raves and partys is to keep quiet on vocal tracks when the vocals are on and when a break down is exciting and also when the dj is mixing if ya keep quiet on this points the dj should like you hence ya mic staying on the nice level and not looking like a tit shouting to a mic with the leve turned down cos the dj hates you and cant stand you.

i totally agree with ya bout most of the above although slightly more technical than how 2 start out, but i cant beleve its just summut thats in ya or summut that you have or havent got, i think everyones got it, its just gettin it out, i was the least likely person to be able to MC cuz i couldnt get my point accross, so i spent alot of time improving and thinking about my lirics which realy changed my style, im not too keen on realy quick mcs now as i find them hard to follow, more of a whizzkid man myself.

Learn the careful art of exactly when to interrupt a track to maximise crowd annoyance. Then yell so loud that the veins in your neck stick out and you spray saliva over the kandi kids and groupies assembled at the front. Oh, and let's not forget the hand movements -- They're vital to the performance.

Getting started out is simpl (ISH) talk to Promoters, thats all it takes.
Its not guaranteed that theyll give you slot... its how you word thats better.
I was in a simalar position a year ago, and I got my first gig a year ago, which I BOTTLED out on cos I wasnt ready yet.
In March (through chatting to a promoter and I got a slot, ez and since then through talking to other promoters and since then ive been getting booked near enough every month.
Its all about prmoting yaself

LOL yeah and spend the night licking the mic.... most ppl find it helpful to listen carefully to other MCs at work and mimic them for a while to get an idea of MCin in time with the music etc, and then u can develop your own style from that.
