Hi all, just trying to get a broad set of opinions to quantify a thought I've had.
The last 5 years, with the changes in Youtube regulations and the shrinking of the Hardcore scene, Youtube has seen Hardcore marketing channels (such as Jordesuvi or Hardcore Highlights) decline from about 5 or 6 regular uploaders to none.
1. From a listener point of view, how much of a loss is this? Jordesuvi had 100k+ subscribers, so did anyone use the channel as a source of music discovery?
2. From a producer point of view, how much of a blow is it to marketing? Channels like this are a window to new sets of music fans that are otherwise unaccessible, so is there a notable difference in not having these channels available to market with?

Sorry I can?t really give much as far as a response to your question but I?m just going to use this as a chance to opine the shrinking of the Hardcore scene as a whole. It?s so disheartening knowing a good chunk of the music is going to essentially disappear into the ether as nobody makes the move to releasing their older stuff digitally and as much as I do support and buy CD?s and vinyl as much as possible now thst I?m an adult I?m so glad I pirated what I did as a kid. I made this account 15 years ago when I was 14 and though I did but CD?s then whenever my grandmother was in the UK and the odd import I definitely pirated a lot of stuff back then, many of which is now completely impossible to find, digitally or physically and I?m really glad to have that piece of history still accessible. I just stumbled upon an old set of CD?s I had burnt back then today entitled ?Best Songs Ever? vol?s 1-11 and there?s so much hardcore on here that was never released digitally and that I wouldn?t even know where to begin looking for online. Yeah we got some of the bigger names release their full back catalogs (with much help form people like CDJay and co. and even then some of those guys bailed half way through the projects) but stuff like Electronica Exposed, or Hardcore Coalition (I?m so glad I got the EP with Headlong Into Mischief on it when I was a kid) or No Left Turn?s stuff or that Rainbow Tune Mario remix track, etc.
There?s so much of the lesser known, underground stuff from 10+ years ago (in an already niche underground genre) that will essentially disappear entirely from people being able to discover it or have their chances of getting their hands on again. I remember checking a year or two again for some old records that I had wanted for years and so many of them were no longer on discogs and no chance at even finding a toooorrrrrent
I?m not here trying to start an argument about pirating, I?m not in the mood (and I have a MASSIVE collection myself now that I?m an adult and always bought stuff even as a kid .. I have over 50HC Cd?s let alone other genres and even more vinvyl, but as a 14 year old pirating exposed me to everything and lead me to music I would eventually buy), but I?m glad I have those old hard drives and CD?s because some of that stuff I couldn?t give the money to people who made it even if I tried and it would suck for that stuff to just be solely listened to an ever dwindling number of people.
I?m sure I?m not the only one who has had those thoughts and I know I?m way late to expressing this but it?s something I?ve thought about a few times over the last few years as I?ve been starting to really commit to recovery and am starting to dive back into the stuff I loved that I shoved to the side to focus on using for so long.
Like, I?m sitting here listening to Best Songs Ever # 7 (ahh young Chris, lol) and I?m loving ever second of it, and even if I could remember the name of these songs and wanted to share them with somebody like k, cool, here?s a burnt CD I made you because YT doesn?t have them, there?s no Streaming sites and you can?t purchase it anywhere? There?s a lot of breakbeat stuff on here from the late 2000?s that was already released in low numbers and hard to find back then (legally and illegally), let alone now.

The facts from my end:
- A zero, making the worst produced stuff ever.
- Being better, building up SC and FB followers which in turn, gained YT followers (although from experience, always more likely to get SC and FB followers than YouTube).
- Jordesuvi and so on uploaded my work.... Great, even more plays but I gather it was bot driven views. Even via exchanges like reviewing an upload for a review.
- Was nice to see a track of mine with 30k plays and comments, but wasn't too bothered. I did what I did.
From a listener side:
- Went by mixtapes, cd stuff. Stuff posted here so I didn't seek music. If I liked what I heard here, went and looked at their stuff.
- Doesn't bother me stuff like that is down because these days I would only look for older stuff and there's an uploader who uploads countless vinyl rips.
A loss to the scene? Change of times and due to the bot nature, uploaders such as jordesuvi weren't reflective. How do you know one of their uploads didn't just have 20 views?
If we take ye olde hardcorehighlights run by someone here I recall? "Martin Solveig - Hello (Trudge Remix)" beast of names there when it comes to searches. Yet just 1.2k plays in 11 years.
Actually that's bad, really 11 years since HP2? Gawd

His channels would pop up every now and then for me. I typically listened to on average 10 seconds from any clip. Moist of the time it's because I am trying to get an idea of when a song came out and those videos sometimes come up.
just accept it archefluxx the scene is dead! :D

I kinda preffer the term "genre" to "scene". Scene I feel is more of a regional/local thing.
The genre has its ups and downs, but it will remain much more than any local scene.
I personally would see some of the jordesuvi content when it popped up every now and then. I did however check hardcore highlights occasionally.
