i would like to take the next few minutes to have a massive rant about age discrimination.

ok so, here goes. other week we're in food tech in lessons and i almost get suspended. but i mean, what kind of a twatting teacher trusts 14/15 year olds with brandy? idiot.

so next, the drinking issue. last night was indeed a mad one, but once again i have been collared. parents dont exactely seem bothered, but its the fact that they point it out. ooh it makes me mad.

so the other day, i try to get into texas chainsaw massacre. they decline us tickets so we buy some for some other movie. cant remember which...and try to sneak in. halleujah, we get caught and chucked out.

onto the main area, hardcore. theres far too much age discrimination in this style of music in my opinion - raves being 18+ etc, people thinking most kids who like hardcore are pubeless 8 year olds with the brain span of a south african black widow, but we're not. ask me anything and i'll tell you the answer

bah...rant over. feel free to flame or send me random packages in the mail.

Ah I remember those days of fake id's, not getting in and going home on your own.... enjoy youth while you can, knowing you can definately get something can spoil the enjoyment a tad. It was always a buzz seeing what we could get away with...

oh and girls are far less demanding at your age mate, or thats how i seem to remember them anyway.

The best things come to those who wait....

I don't want 14/15 year olds at any parties. Face it no matter how mature you act your still a kid and kids enmasses wll act like children.

Enjoy being young, seriously. It flys by so fast and you will miss it when its gone.

Hell Im 19 and I miss being 16 and only having to worry about school and how to score beer on the weekend. Those were really good times but there gone now.

Besides, a child would try to break the rules and sneak into a theater. An adult would bit the bullet and accept it.

Adult is not an age its a state of mind so no "I know 28 yr olds who sneak in to movies!!!!"

...do it hardcore...

16 would be good if most 16 year olds could handle themselves responsibly.

Yes a small group can. I was one of them. I know how it is. I also know that a large majority of the 16 yr old population are flakes.

Same reason some bars won't allow anyone under 21 in (I'm in the states). They don't want to take the risk of someone under 21 killing themselves let alone someone else in a collision. They would be held responsible. I think it sucks. But it does keep those dipshits out who would get wrecked and ruin someone elses life because they decided to be irresponsible. I can handle waiting. I've got other stuff to do.

Think of it as doing your duty. Your missing out right now to prevent the greater majority of the populus from screwing it up for you now or even later.

Just the way I look at it.

...do it hardcore...

I know that when I was 15-16 I was doing LOTS of stupid things. Some of it was harmless, but most of it was illegal and just plain dangerous. I kind of wish that I HADN'T been going to parties at that age.

No, the USA's laws on alcohol are wrong and also dangerous.
the USA need to drop the drinking age down to 18 - 18 year olds are not children and shouldnt be treated like them. since moving to the USA (from britian) ive watched as countless people (under 21) have been treated like 10 year olds, simply because of the fact they're under 21. The reason that i think the laws on alcohol are wrong over here? because hardly any responsiblity is given to the 18 -21 year old, at the time when they are fully adult. reason why its dangerous? because the person hasnt been given the responsiblity at 18 - they are now forced to wait till they are 21 - and i have heard too many times about 21 year olds going out and getting killed on there 21st brithday from ODing on Alcohol -

think about this (if your british - where our drinking age is 18) imagine if you had to wait till your 21....

in my opinion - america is where the true age discimination is.

britian - i think, have it just right - i miss what i had.

at one point i was 18 and was a fully matured adult - responsible enough to drink, watch porn (if one wanted that is) and get into nightclubs - and just by moving to a differnt country (im now 19) i am now a menace to society and a minor- a child again. with no more responsibity than a 13 year old in britian

god...get me out of this place!
you dont know what you have till its gone - i do envy you robbie :)

DjTriquatra, I know exactly what you mean, I lived in US for a year, before I went there I had been 18 for half a year, kinda got used to go to clubs and been drinking since I was 15. Now, that first time was a chock, being called a kid, seeing 18year olds not alowed to leave the house without permission, no alcohol. But they was allowed to take driverslicense by age of 14. Well, maybe I'm biased cause I lived in a small town far away from the big cities. :)

Anyway, I ended up getting caught by the police for drinking 2 beers, had to go to court. Got 10 days in jail, a fine and suspended driver license.

Now THAT's a good story, works every time. :)

Where the **** were you?
I've never met an 18 year old that couldn't come and go as they pleased (unless they were in jail). From about 16, I've been pretty much free to do what I wanted. My parents would always want to know where I was going, and they would ask that I call them once or twice to let them know that I was OK. That's just because they cared about me.

The driving age in the USA is 16, just so ya' know. It used to be 18 in NYC, not sure if it is still, though.

Possesion of alcohol by a minor is a misdemeanor, so I find it hard to believe that you spent 10 days in jail JUST for having beer. Did you do something to escalate the situation? I got caught with alcohol MANY times, and the worst that happened was the cops called my parents and drove me home. Hell, I got caught with 3 pills and a bag of weed one time, and I just had to do 160 hours of community service and attend a substance abuse education program.

I worked as a corrections officer for two years, with part of that time spent at a maximum security male juvenile prison. I can tell you from experience that kids in this country get away with murder (literally).

I would agree about the drinking age being lowered to 18. Makes sense. However, the law is the law. If you get caught breaking it, ya' pay the price. That's pretty standard in any country.

Fact is that the time that raves are, and if they want to serve alcahol etc etc, then it HAS to be 18+ to abide with the law, and it's true though that most people's bodies at age 14, 15 haven't quite yet developed for large alcahol intakes and other intakes.

Face the facts, If raves are for everyone a lot of kidz would abuse the newfound freedom and do stupid shit. Around here most raves are 16+, which is fine by me (i'm 17) cuz from the age of 16 your also allowed into a bar here and whether you booze up in a bar or at a rave, you booze up anyway. At a rave you can at least have security chuck em out if they get out of line or get them in an ambulance really fast when they overdo it

Haha, take it easy man, I said I probably was biased cause I lived in a shitty little town in the middle of nowhere (South Dakota) and I don't really think things are the same in the bigger (non isolated) cities.
And yeah, you can get a driver license at the age of 14 up there.

About the jail time, yes I did get that sentence in court, and I only had 2 beers nothing else at the time or earlier for that matter, it even made it to the newspaper stating that extact sentence, however I later made a deal to replace my jail time with a anti-drug and alcoholic camp for teenagers, loads of fun! But it did cost me $200 tho... sucks.

I didn't try to let US look bad, I know it's the law and you shouln't break it, I just said it was a big shock for me comming from sweden, where it's legal to drink at any age (you just can't buy until you're 18).

just my experiences.....

well, earlyer was just my opinion on alcohol - as for raves i still think 18 is a fine age limit - BUT people cannot forget the younger generation - these are the people that will carry on and keep the scene alive - now if the scene only stays alive for 5 years more - the time it takes for a 13 year old to turn 18 to get into clubs (legally) then they have missed out on a whole amount of music and experiance - they need to be given somthing - you cant just slap an age restriction on hardcore eh? when i first got into hardcore (i was around 13/14 i was stuck on an island (the isles of scilly) and by the time i left the island (at 17) hardcore was all but dead in mainland britian - i was mighty pissed lol - and guess what - as soon as hardcore desides to perk up again - i move to the most dullest place possible in america!!! arg!!! *bangs head on keyboard** asdhajksh asdajsh asdhkas asjhdkjashk

i think 16 is a good age to start going to rave and have alcohol. only there the people must educate the people better , one or two glassed wine of beer is not bad for your heatlh.

robbie there is one thing for you to do and come to holland then you can do what you want ;)
