keen to hear what other people around the world think of the dood...i live about 60miles (100km) from his Zoo and that is FAR to close for my likeing...The man is seriously a tool banger, and his approach to conservation is a VERY VERY nieve and unsustainable one. Appart from that the fact that he has resulted in much of the world thinking we all love crocs and love to keep kangeroos healthy in our living rooms and that they are all goin to die out and need to be saved (trust me it is a total load of shit) I eat the both of them cus they taste good and they are farmed in a sustainable manner.

If you saw Steve on Rove Live, you would understand.
He just wants to make the doco's more exciting. Instead of David Attenborough and his posh larkies.
I enjoy his stunts cos you learn and you will remember the fact he almost died.

The Director of the Australian National Museum who is one of the leaders in conservation techniques and Steve had a debate on radio once...Steve argued his "put them in a zoo" idea and the Director dood (name escapes me) said that the value of animal for tourist value is FAR less then that of it as a commercial quantity...He quite rightly pointed out to Irwin that the reason for the wipe out of many species is due to commercial farming...that coupled with the land degradation with the farming practices means that land allover the world is getting ass raped...His proposal (that Irwin rejected with out being able to disagree with any of the questions posed) was to get animals to native and if possible endangered animals a commercial value in the form of meat, hides or as biological control...this would require the breading of them to a substantial level and would ensure that they were kept at a sustainable level and result in higher production then beef, lamb and wool because they are native and the land is better suited to them....
David Attenborough on the other admits that for species to survive they must be cared for and USED!!! I believe also that you don’t need stunts when you have something of interest to say and some of the most amazing footage ever captured.
David Suzuki also believes this, he also points out with a diversity of crops the human population is less suseptable to pests and disease…if you don’t know who this man is look him up, also for those of you at uni/college he is REALLY helpful on assignments he has studies EVERY thing…
My friends that is y Steve Irwin is a wanker J yeah I admit he is a tool and gives Australians a bit of a bad wrap….but my number 1 problem with the man is the fact that he is educating people in totally the wrong ways to go about things….yeah they are cute and shit…so are calves and baby chickens mate!!! Truth is they are usable and they do taste REALLY good and the save the land
The scary thing about that is his success in acting like a wanker has enabled him to spread his wanky and dangerous views

Instead of farming and hunting in the traditional sense you could grow things in batteries, like chickens for instance.
Anyway, see if you can get a transcript of the interview/battle. Then we can debate this further. Otherwise its your word against mine. Oh and the funny videos Steve has made.

Professional Croc hunters only dissed Steve cause he is against the new NT laws coming in that will allow americans and other tourists to come in and kill crocs in the state of NT for NO REASON, just for sport.
Steve Irwin is a Aussie legend, just 3months ago he saved that man who was drowning...he has got a great family....he and his family was on Oprah just over a year ago. his 6year old girl had a python on her shoulders next to Oprah......None cared...

He gives out an image of what Australia is like. Most of the people in this country just think Australians are like Steve Irwin or really over the top nice like they are in that ****ing annoying programme Neighbours both programes should be canceled i mean like who the **** whatches them.

nah a true australian hero is someone like Fred Hollows or the inventer of the bionic ear....dont belittle people who are truly great austalians by assoiciating them with one man who has done nothing different to what 90% of the population would have done if they saw someone drowning ....if it wernt steve irwin no one would have known.

I would watch a David Attenborough wildlife show anyday over a steve irwin one, for starters Attenborough portrays the fact, and shows the animals behaving how they do around each other, not how they behave when a human is pee'ing them off! That and you can understand clearly what Sir David is saying.

to right to rygor ,,,, but hey we are a total minority compared to the bunch of fools who follow all these typical trends... and who go to that ridiculas Australia Zoo ... which hasn't changed since I went there on a field trip in grade 5 .... so meh ...whats the point waisting our brain cells that can be put to much betta use ..... and hey for that whole australian of the year stuff,,, it is a total popularity contest just like the f#@king political elections ... but hey lets not get political ..... that shit is extremely boring ......
