yeah thats true. most people call any kind of hard dance hard house cos they know **** all about dance music. theres no hardcore scene at all down in wexford all the pubs, clubs n discos play either pop or techno, you might hear the odd hard house tune like question mark's "the bird" or "the dawn" by tony de vit.

It is boy!! I've been trying to get a gig around here and the owner of the local disco didn't know what i meant when i said i woz a happy hardcore dj. He just said to me "NO HARD HOUSE" cos it attracts the wrong crowds. my mate says they won't play any hard dance cos there afraid it will attract drugs into the place, shame innit!! looks like I can't get a gig just some tit associates hard dance with drug use

i nearly died of shock wednesday night. Hotfm played an old skool hardcore tune. anyone able to tell me the name of it? It was at about 1.30am and it was an old breakbeat tune. it started off "this ones dedicated to all the ravers in the nation' then a lyric 'hardcore vibes, (something, something, something')(couldnt make out what he was sayin). Then it went back to "to all the ravers in the nation".
can anyone confirm that this is actually a hardcore song and i wasnt so out of it that i imagined it?
They also played dye witness "master plan" yesterday. i couldnt believe my ears. maybe theyre coming round to the idea of playin hardcore. its time to send them another e-mail me thinks. if a few of us send them e-mails they might consider it, you never know. it worked in england for radio 1 didnt it

ireland use 2b full of hardcore, we had massive raves @ the kings hall, ulster hall, the point, rds, circus, circus, kellys, the arena, exit 15, kilwaughter house, and the the future we even had a link with the fubar in scotland were scottish ravers come here 4 an event and the irish would then travel to scotland but all the promoters have moved into other styles n the music being produced in the late 90s didnt help. planet love do a hardcore tent @ their events and the coach book ppl like tizer n x-ray to play oldskool sets but this is not enuff. alot of back stabbing took place in the irish scene between promoters witch was very bad 4 hardcore here. the record shops (underground) dont even stock hardcore ne more...all my recs r mailorders. this shows that there just isnt the interest 4 hardcore in ireland. dj talent in ireland was and is a plenty there is absolutly no shortage in the skill of irish jocks but we sufferd by bringing to many of the big name djs in without focusing on the talent we already had. every dj that came here 4 hardcore events said they couldnt believe it that the crowds were so up4it. the planet love 03 hardcore tent was packed out but still our future looks very bleek. the only thing 4 upncoming jocks is in england but u need 2b producing music to get a lookin. if we really want hardcore to take of in this place again we must convert the nxt gen by hosting small events in youth clubs and getting them into the hardcore vibe. if we get them into it there will be a demand for it n promoters will c they can make sum money out of it again. i really dispear at this coz i love the music so much n i know alot of u irish hardcore ravers n jocks feel the same. the rave scene goes in cycles. england has just come out of one of these cycles n scotland is starting to pick up 2 so give it time and we'll have hardcore back on our shores.
theres more id like 2 say but i dont know its just ****ed up.
lets wait n c what happenens.
im sure we'll c sum raves here again soon.

man im ****in seriuos bout this. hotfm play the same tunes over and over and ovre. they play nothing but cheesey comercial dance. if they were a true dance music station they would promote different types of dance music as they claim to be 'dublins hottest dance mix.' (yeah **** off)
an awful lot of the tunes they play to death are originally hardcore tunes (eg shooting star, field of dreams and sh*tty green eyes). the only difference between the music we love and the sh*te they mostly play is the bpm count. does a few bpm's over 130 makea song completely unplayable on radio??????
think about what their target audience is....... scangers
(no offence to any northsiders out there as im currently living in the north dublin myself) the reason that these people havent heard of hardcore music is that it doesntget played anywhere. but the people who listen to that station tend to like uplifting, hard, trancey tunes. the music we listen to just happens to be a bit faster than the stuff they play 24hrs a day. i would put any money that the majority of people who listen to this station would love hardcore music as it is probably the most energetic form of music being produced these days. the only reason most of their audience havent heard of hardcore music is because they have never been introduced to it. i wouldnt be postingthis right now if a friend hadntplayed me a bonkers cd and changed my life and restored my faith in dance music.
it is the responsibility of hotfm and other dance music stations to promote the different genres of dance music and introduce new events across dublin and the rest of the country.
when i moved from offaly to dublin to go to college i was excited because of the huge club scene i expected up here. instead i hear the temple theatre closed down as did switch, mono and a few others and all im left with during the week is the same sh*t chart and RnB bollox in every nightclub in this f*ckin city and im sick of wasting the little money i have on sh*t nights out
some of the best trance being produced at the moment is in the hardcore genre (scot brown, dougal & gammer, breeze & styles spring to mind) and is so often being coppied by producers on commercial labels that get played on their station. i dont see why they wont give any time to different styles of dance music (hardcore, hardhouse, techno, etc.)
it really does my head in. ive e-mailed them before on this subject and asked them nicely for a reply on why they only play the one form of dance music when it is such a big genre, but sadly recieved no reply.
i am now calling for anybody who reads this thread to contact them at [email protected]
it worked in england so it might just work here..... hopefully

The thing is, though. Hot FM has a shitload of listeners, they're more than likely afraid to change the "formula" of the station now. Therefore it's probably a waste of time emailing them.
